理學中的“統(tǒng)一”概念與利瑪竇對理學的接受

這篇論文試圖回答兩個問題:一、十七世紀歐洲作家描述中國的時候,為什么他們不愿意接受新儒家的“統(tǒng)一”概念作為事物共同起源的這種思想?進而轉(zhuǎn)向第二個問題,即宋明理學家究竟是如何處理統(tǒng)一問題的?對這兩個問題的問答是本文一般的脈絡。而回答這兩個問題主要基于三種的文字材料:第一種材料是在歐洲由耶穌會家所出版的描述中國古代哲學的書籍;第二種材料是利瑪竇寫給中國知識分子的書籍(特別是他的對話式著作——《天主實義》);第三種材料是宋明理學原文,特別是被耶穌會傳教士所閱讀關(guān)注的文字作品。研究問的答案基于兩個假設(shè):一、在近代早期,在歐洲,中國思想家對“統(tǒng)一“概念的想象方式變得流行;二、歐洲早現(xiàn)代作家對中國哲學的理解來自他們對送命理學思想的接受(其中特別與對理學中的“統(tǒng)一”概念的態(tài)度有關(guān)系)。在第一章中,論文討論了早現(xiàn)代歐洲作家對中國哲學有什么樣的想象,使用和收集了哪些中國文獻。耶穌會傳教士對理學的理解最重要文本是《性理大全》,特別對《太極圖說》的評注和其中兩篇關(guān)于“氣”和“理”的文章。文章標明耶穌會作家對評注與其他理學家的文本的態(tài)度形成了一個鮮明的區(qū)別。結(jié)果是在十七世紀的歐洲,理學的形象經(jīng)常被認為是反對中國...
