[Abstract]:Positive atherosclerosis is the leading cause of death in the world. Vascular smooth muscle cells (vascular smooth muscle cells,VSMC) play a key role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Endothelial sialic acid protein (CD248) has been considered to be an activation marker for stromal cell lines including tumor-associated pericytes, myofibroblast stroma and activated VSMC. Therefore, the researchers hypothesized that VSMC-expressed endothelial sialic acid protein could functionally participate in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Methods and results: quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (QRT-PCR) and immunohistochemical staining were performed.
