華裔美國文學自其誕生已有百余年的歷史。在美國華裔作家作品中,女性作家及其作品更是備受矚目。繼水仙花、譚恩美、湯婷婷等享譽中外的華裔女作家之后,二十世紀六、七十年代,隨著女權(quán)主義的廣泛傳播,一些年輕杰出的華裔作家不斷涌現(xiàn)。華裔戲劇悄然興起。本論文所研究的戲劇打碎玻璃的作者迪梅·羅伯茨是一位在社會上有廣泛影響的劇作家。她寫了很多廣播作品,出版了三部知名的戲劇,多次榮獲國家級文學獎項,其中包括俄勒岡最佳戲劇圖書獎。劇作《打碎玻璃》是一部深深打上作者本人移民經(jīng)歷的反映跨種族家庭生活的作品。 在當今全球化進程日益加速的時代,從不同種族的文化入手,研究在世界范圍內(nèi),各種不同的文化如何和諧共融,以避免激烈沖突,實現(xiàn)互利雙贏,具有重大的現(xiàn)實意義。家庭是社會的基本單位,家庭的和諧是整個社會和諧和個人發(fā)展的堅實動力和精神基礎。多種族家庭生活是不同種族文化的國與國相處的縮影。本文從不同的中美家庭價值觀的角度入手分析了劇中家庭矛盾產(chǎn)生的根源,進而發(fā)現(xiàn)求同存異,相互理解和寬容是維系跨種族家庭溫馨安寧的關鍵,也是國與國之間實現(xiàn)有好互惠交往的關鍵。
