《土生子》中別格的自我實現(xiàn)之路

理查德·賴特享有“美國黑人文學之父”的美譽,其代表作《土生子》更被譽為黑人文學的里程碑。著名美國評論家歐文·豪稱:“在《土生子》出版的那一天,美國文化被永久改變了。”小說描寫了一個黑人貧民窟的青年別格·托馬斯從無知到成熟,不斷尋求自我的過程。本文采用分析心理學創(chuàng)始人榮格的個體化理論來分析別格自我實現(xiàn)的過程。個體化是榮格關(guān)于人格發(fā)展理論的一個關(guān)鍵概念,其基本含義為:一個人成為他自己,獲得完整性,發(fā)現(xiàn)自我的各個方面。他認為,若要實現(xiàn)個體化,就必須承認和接納人格面具、陰影、阿尼瑪、智慧老人等原型。別格的故事正是其人格發(fā)展過程的寫照。首先,他成功地將真實的自我與兩個人格面具區(qū)分開來。接著,他將一直壓抑在個人無意識中的兩個陰影引入到意識中。在此基礎上,別格認識了自己的兩個阿尼瑪。最后,通過這兩位智慧老人,別格成功獲得了原始智慧和直覺智慧,順利實現(xiàn)了個體化,在一個白人普遍視其為“垃圾”、“野獸”的社會,別格最終找到了真我,實現(xiàn)了人格的完善。
