[Abstract]:David Lodge is a famous British novelist and literary critic. As a scholar writer, he has been devoted to reflecting academic phenomena in his novels. His most famous novels are almost the intellectuals as the main characters, academic and cultural circles as the background of writing. His novel style is usually regarded as a return to tradition after postmodernism, with the dual characteristics of realism and postmodernism. Transposition is a novel with many themes. Abroad, the study of transposition was carried out relatively early. It has won the HorThorton Prize for Literature and the best novel award for the Yorkshire Post. The study of transposition in China mainly focuses on narrative techniques, modernism, postmodernism and cultural differences between the United States and the United States. However, looking at the present situation of domestic and international research, few people study the mirror theory of this novel. The purpose of this paper is to make a systematic analysis and discussion on transposition by using Lacan's mirror image theory, and to discuss the crisis of self-identity of the characters in the text from the angle of self and others. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper includes five chapters: the first chapter introduces the author's life and his main works, expounds the domestic and foreign research status of the text, the innovation, purpose and significance of this paper. The second chapter introduces mirror image theory, self, other and the relationship between self and other. The third chapter describes the conflict between self and other in transposition. On the basis of the first three chapters, the fourth chapter focuses on the analysis of the great influence of the dissimilated small world in transposition on the mental state and living state of the characters. The fifth chapter through the profound interpretation of the text, combined with the mirror theory to sum up the process of self approaching others and trying to be replaced by others, reflects the eternal confusion that modern people face in the process of growing up. The author's intention is to describe the two professors, Svalo and Zapp, reflecting the corruption and corruption of the academic circles represented by Svalo and Zapp, as well as the inner anxiety and survival dilemma faced by modern people. But the author still expects the whole intellectual group to get out of confusion and make new achievements.
