艾米·洛威爾是美國著名現(xiàn)代主義女詩人,與中國文化的關系十分密切。但以前的研究更多注意到了她對中國古典詩歌的翻譯,而忽視了其創(chuàng)作與中國文化的關系。本文認為,正是對中國文化與古典詩歌養(yǎng)分的吸收,洛威爾才成為了一位公認的美國現(xiàn)代主義詩人。最初,詩人的創(chuàng)作深受浪漫主義影響,讀者市場與文化圈對她的早期的作品并不認可,甚至拒絕承認洛威爾的詩人身份。但是,通過不斷學習中國文化,尤其是中國古典詩歌,洛威爾藝術技巧日臻成熟,最終成為了一名現(xiàn)代主義詩歌大將。同時,作為一位詩人,洛威爾借鑒中國文化資源,革新美國文學的審美趣味,不僅形成了自己的現(xiàn)代主義詩歌風格,也推動了英美現(xiàn)代主義詩歌的發(fā)展。本文主體部分共有三章。第一章通過爬梳歷史文獻,考察洛威爾對中國文化的接觸與理解。她最開始接觸中國文化,來自于其兄長帕西瓦爾從日本帶回的日本繪畫與俳句;之后她從家族豐富的藏書有關中國文化的諸多介紹中更多學習了解中國古典詩歌;再者,她有幾位長期在中國生活的美國朋友們?yōu)樗?jīng)常介紹中國文化,包括提供給她中國詩集與歷史典籍,也成為她了解中國文化的重要途徑。最后,她從與聞一多的書信交往中,也獲得了不少有關中國文化的介紹。顯然,洛威爾...
