《寵兒》是美國黑人女作家托尼·莫里森的代表作之一,該書通過描寫黑人母女的悲慘遭遇再現(xiàn)了美國蓄奴制給黑人女性帶來的身體和精神的創(chuàng)傷。目前國內(nèi)外對(duì)該作品的研究主要聚焦于結(jié)構(gòu)特點(diǎn)、敘述方式、非洲傳統(tǒng)文化、象征意義和母愛等視角,而對(duì)其中的母女關(guān)系的關(guān)注卻顯不足。筆者認(rèn)為,母女關(guān)系是該作非常重要的一組人物關(guān)系,直接關(guān)系文本意義的理解和生發(fā)。因此,本文擬借助新歷史主義、女性主義和精神分析等批評(píng)理論,對(duì)《寵兒》中的黑人母女關(guān)系進(jìn)行解讀,試圖發(fā)現(xiàn)黑人女性遭遇不幸的深刻歷史和文化根源。全文由四章組成。第一章梳理分析了國內(nèi)外有關(guān)《寵兒》的研究狀況和本論文的研究目的、意義和框架。第二章對(duì)《寵兒》中美國奴隸制時(shí)期黑人母女被迫分離的關(guān)系進(jìn)行分析并指出殖民主義、種族主義和父權(quán)制是造成黑人母女分離的主要原因。第三章對(duì)《寵兒》在奴隸制廢除后的母女之間的沖突關(guān)系進(jìn)行了剖析,筆者認(rèn)為,黑人母女所處的社會(huì)地位和文化價(jià)值觀念的差異是造成小說中黑人母女關(guān)系緊張的重要緣由。第四章以小說中黑人母女的自我救贖之路為核心,指出黑人母女關(guān)系改善的關(guān)鍵在于正視歷史,沿襲黑人文化傳統(tǒng),努力在白人主流社會(huì)中找尋自我。筆者在結(jié)論中指出,種族主義、父權(quán)制和文化差異是造成《寵兒》中黑人母女悲劇的根源,黑人女性應(yīng)在種族主義和父權(quán)制的社會(huì)中應(yīng)相互扶持、諒解;母親應(yīng)該起到文化傳承的作用,女兒應(yīng)主動(dòng)了解母親的遭遇和黑人歷史,并在白人主流社會(huì)中宣揚(yáng)女性的主體地位,這也是作者莫里森倡導(dǎo)黑人女性反抗白人主流文化和父權(quán)制的應(yīng)有之義。
