自塞林格《麥田里的守望者》1951年問世以來,取得了巨大的成功。小說的主人公霍爾頓在年輕讀者中影響力巨大。同時,霍爾頓“不合時宜”的言行舉止也使其形象備受爭議。本文運(yùn)用文學(xué)創(chuàng)傷理論,將霍爾頓視為經(jīng)受創(chuàng)傷的人,并為其種種“不恰當(dāng)”的言行辯白。身處充滿“假模假式”的人的社會,霍爾頓拒絕并敢于挑戰(zhàn)主流價值觀,成為虛偽社會下的一個無辜的犧牲者。第二章、第三章和第四章是主體部分,是對霍爾頓創(chuàng)傷的理解和認(rèn)識。它們分別是霍爾頓的創(chuàng)傷經(jīng)歷、創(chuàng)傷經(jīng)歷帶來的影響以及霍爾頓的創(chuàng)傷治愈過程�；魻栴D是一個充滿矛盾的人物,他的創(chuàng)傷也是復(fù)雜的。除開他個人的成長苦痛所帶來的無法言說的孤獨(dú)之外,還有他長期被各種虛偽的人包圍,隔絕于主流社會之外所帶來的創(chuàng)傷。他困在青春期和成人世界之間,不知所措,備受煎熬。通過霍爾頓的視角,塞林格批判了二戰(zhàn)后美國社會空虛,金錢至上的社會氛圍。
