【摘要】：由于情態(tài)的模糊性和復(fù)雜性,其研究至今依然是語言學(xué)界的熱點(diǎn)話題之一。在日常生活中,情態(tài)扮演著重要的角色,并且有許多種表達(dá)方式。而在這些表達(dá)方式中,情態(tài)詞是最有效的一種,人們利用情態(tài)詞來表達(dá)對某一事件的主觀態(tài)度或猜測。在人們的認(rèn)知模型中,"will"是一個典型的情態(tài)詞,然而對于"will"的詞性至今沒有定論,而對于‘'will"的漢語語義對等詞“要”的詞性也存在爭議。在現(xiàn)代社會中,"will"可以翻譯成“要”,然而"will"和“要”的原型語義卻差異很大。因此,基于牛津英語詞典(OED)、英國國家語料庫(BNC)、美國當(dāng)代英語語料庫(COCA)及北京大學(xué)CcL語料庫(CCL),本文對情態(tài)詞"will"和“要”的歷時演變過程進(jìn)行詳細(xì)的描述,并對兩者的演變機(jī)制、演變過程的異同點(diǎn)及異同點(diǎn)產(chǎn)生的原因進(jìn)行分析,試圖從歷時演變角度證明這兩個詞是情態(tài)詞。通過對"will"和“要”的歷時演變對比分析,得知如下結(jié)論：首先,"will"和“要”經(jīng)歷了三方面的變化。在詞性上,"will"大致經(jīng)歷了：實義詞(名詞、動詞)實義詞／情態(tài)詞,“要”大致經(jīng)歷了：實義名詞動詞情態(tài)動詞；在語義上,"will"大致經(jīng)歷了：希望意愿猜想要、會,“要”大致經(jīng)歷了：腰將…系在腰間從中攔截努力爭取希望、想需要、必定邀請猜測將要；在情態(tài)演變上,兩者都經(jīng)歷了：動力情態(tài)道義情態(tài)認(rèn)識情態(tài)。其次,"will"和“要”的語義演變機(jī)制是隱喻和轉(zhuǎn)喻。再次,"will"和“要”在演變過程中,既有相似性也有差異性。本文總結(jié)了"will"和“要”歷時演變過程的異同點(diǎn),并分析了異同點(diǎn)產(chǎn)生的原因。通過本文的研究,希望有助于了解英漢語各自的語言特點(diǎn)和普遍規(guī)律,從而更好的使用兩種語言。同時希望對日后的英漢對比研究及語言共性研究提供理論依據(jù),也希望對語言演變提供實用價值,并對語言教學(xué)和漢英翻譯起到借鑒作用。
