A Comparative Study of Modality in Letters to Shareholders b

企業(yè)年報(bào)是獲取公眾信任,對(duì)外溝通,樹立公司品牌形象的重要媒介。其中,致股東信函作為年報(bào)的開篇部分,是企業(yè)與利益相關(guān)者及潛在投資者的溝通工具。同時(shí),致股東信函也是企業(yè)年報(bào)中可讀性最強(qiáng)的部分,更能反映出企業(yè)的深層次情況,對(duì)此進(jìn)行研究具有重要意義。本文以能源行業(yè)為例,以評(píng)價(jià)理論下的態(tài)度系統(tǒng)和系統(tǒng)功能語(yǔ)言學(xué)下的情態(tài)系統(tǒng)為基礎(chǔ),采用定量和定性相結(jié)合的方法,對(duì)中美能源企業(yè)的英文致股東信各30篇從語(yǔ)氣、情態(tài)、人稱和態(tài)度等方面進(jìn)行對(duì)比研究,發(fā)現(xiàn)中美能源企業(yè)英文致辭在情態(tài)表達(dá)和態(tài)度上的差異及其原因。具體的研究方法包括對(duì)比分析法、案例研究法及數(shù)據(jù)描述法。研究發(fā)現(xiàn)中美能源類行業(yè)致股東信在情態(tài)表達(dá)上具有共同點(diǎn):(1)總體頻率低;中值情態(tài)詞使用最頻繁,既表明作者對(duì)自己發(fā)出的命題持肯定態(tài)度,又避免了由于地位差距造成的讀者與作者間距離過(guò)大的問(wèn)題;未出現(xiàn)否定情態(tài)詞;(2)評(píng)價(jià)系統(tǒng)中,態(tài)度系統(tǒng)的使用頻率最高,而態(tài)度系統(tǒng)中鑒賞和判斷資源占絕大多數(shù),情感資源最少。判斷資源中以做事才干居多,情感資源中以積極正面的情感居多,如快樂(lè)、自信等,這樣的表達(dá)更容易引起讀者的共鳴;(3)句型以陳述句居多,疑問(wèn)句和祈使句幾乎沒(méi)有。時(shí)態(tài)上采...
