本文在批評(píng)語篇分析的視角下,對(duì)富蘭克林·德拉諾·羅斯福第一篇就職演說和貝拉克·奧巴馬的就職演說進(jìn)行對(duì)比研究。由于兩篇演講發(fā)表的背景具有相似性,所以成為本文的對(duì)比研究對(duì)象�；谫M(fèi)爾克勞的三維模式,文章主要分三個(gè)層次展開,首先是對(duì)演講文體特征的描述,其次對(duì)演講論證方式的闡釋,以及對(duì)語篇和社會(huì)背景之間關(guān)系的解釋。在韓禮德的系統(tǒng)功能語法和批評(píng)語篇分析方法論的指導(dǎo)下,本文在及物性、情態(tài)系統(tǒng)、轉(zhuǎn)換和分類等四個(gè)方面對(duì)兩篇演講的文體特征進(jìn)行描述的過程中,發(fā)現(xiàn)兩位總統(tǒng)都不同程度地選擇了一些具體的語言技巧來達(dá)到各自的目的。例如:他們均采用名詞化和被動(dòng)化使演講的語言更加客觀公正,也采用第一人稱代詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式,把自己的意愿強(qiáng)加于聽眾。整個(gè)闡釋過程主要以湯普森的論證分析理論為依據(jù),詳細(xì)分析了兩篇演講中具體的論證方式,闡明隱藏于語篇中的意識(shí)形態(tài)。在分析過程中作者發(fā)現(xiàn),演講中隱藏著一些不合邏輯的論證以及不易被聽眾發(fā)現(xiàn)的意識(shí)形態(tài),這些不合邏輯的論證在某種程度上可以達(dá)到一定的說服效果。解釋過程把語篇看做一種社會(huì)實(shí)踐,主要解釋了社會(huì)背景如何決定語篇的內(nèi)容和特征,以及語篇內(nèi)容和特征又是如何為社會(huì)秩序服務(wù)的。
