等效翻譯論在文化元素翻譯中的應(yīng)用

“功能對(duì)等”能否作為評(píng)價(jià)翻譯作品的一個(gè)標(biāo)準(zhǔn),這個(gè)問題人們爭(zhēng)論已久。一種觀點(diǎn)認(rèn)為,功能對(duì)等理論太過于抽象而不實(shí)際,因?yàn)樗鼘⒃暮妥g文讀者都牽涉進(jìn)了翻譯評(píng)論中,而讀者的想法和反應(yīng)是無法科學(xué)地量化地。然而,在對(duì)古今中外各種各樣的翻譯理論進(jìn)行研究之后我們發(fā)現(xiàn),功能對(duì)等理論的基本思想早已滲透在許多著名的翻譯理論之中。通過對(duì)這些理論進(jìn)一步的研究我們清楚地看到,正如功能對(duì)等理論所說的,原文和譯文的接受者的確在翻譯評(píng)論中占據(jù)著重要的位置。因此,功能對(duì)等理論毫無疑問有其過人之處,而問題就在于如何將其運(yùn)用于翻譯實(shí)踐中。對(duì)于文化元素的翻譯一直是翻譯工作的一道障礙。原因之一是任何與文化相關(guān)的元素在不同文化背景的讀者心中都會(huì)引起不同的閱讀感受,而在翻譯領(lǐng)域,原文讀者與譯文讀者顯然有著不同的文化背景。這又一次顯示了功能對(duì)等理論的重要性,因?yàn)樵摾砟钤诜g批評(píng)中給予了原文和譯文接受者他們應(yīng)得的地位。因此,本文試圖從功能對(duì)等理論的角度探討文化元素的翻譯,以期總結(jié)出一些實(shí)用的翻譯原則,使功能對(duì)等理論具體化、可操作化。
