【摘要】： 隱喻研究的歷史源遠流長。在西方,對隱喻比較系統(tǒng)的研究可以追溯到亞里士多德。然而,隱喻研究傳統(tǒng)上僅限于修辭領(lǐng)域和語言領(lǐng)域。其主要理論包括比較理論、替代理論和互動理論。1980年美國著名認知語言學(xué)家萊考夫與約翰遜合著的《我們賴以生存的隱喻》的出版標(biāo)志著隱喻的研究實現(xiàn)了從修辭格和語義研究到認知研究的轉(zhuǎn)向,是隱喻研究的一個重大突破。近二十年來,隱喻研究在認知科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的發(fā)展得到了越來越廣泛的認同。認知理論認為隱喻的本質(zhì)就是通過一種事物來理解和經(jīng)歷另一種事物,隱喻不僅僅是一種語言現(xiàn)象,更是一種認知現(xiàn)象,是我們認知和理解世界的工具。人類賴以生存的許多基本概念系統(tǒng)以及人類思維方式乃至行為方式本質(zhì)上都是隱喻性的。 概念隱喻是萊考夫隱喻理論中的一個重要概念。概念隱喻的形成是以人類身體經(jīng)驗為基礎(chǔ)的。本文以萊考夫和約翰遜的隱喻理論為基礎(chǔ),從認知角度,對英漢語中的四種主要的概念隱喻即人體隱喻、時間隱喻、情感隱喻以及顏色隱喻進行對比分析,著重探討兩種語言在概念隱喻表達上的異同,并從認知和文化兩個角度分析其形成原因。研究表明英漢兩種語言中有一些共同的概念隱喻,這是因為英漢兩種語言中的概念隱喻都源于身體經(jīng)驗。同時,英漢概念隱喻也存在很大的差異,這主要是由于文化的相對性造成的。本文從地理位置、傳統(tǒng)習(xí)慣、哲學(xué)理論和宗教信仰上的不同對這些差異作出了闡釋。 本文的對比研究進一步證實了概念隱喻存在著認知普遍性以及文化相對性。此項研究在一定程度上彌補了目前對于英漢概念隱喻跨文化對比研究的不足。另外,此研究將會促進概念隱喻的跨文化理解,并有助于外語學(xué)習(xí)、外語教學(xué)、翻譯以及跨文化交際。
