《圍城》中的模糊語言及其英語翻譯策略研究

【摘要】:模糊性是現(xiàn)實世界的基本特性和常規(guī)現(xiàn)象,作為描述客觀世界的語言必然會帶有模糊特性。模糊性作為語言的基本特性之一,它廣泛存在于世界上任何一種語言之中,頻繁出現(xiàn)在人們?nèi)粘=浑H和文學(xué)作品中,它能夠以有限的語言手段表達(dá)無限的意義,準(zhǔn)確地運(yùn)用模糊語言可以增強(qiáng)語言的靈活性,提高語言的表達(dá)效果。模糊語言在描述事物時是朦朧的、不明確的,即模糊語言的詞語具有朦朧而又廣遠(yuǎn)的語義外延,尤其在文學(xué)作品中,模糊語言發(fā)揮著特有的語用和修辭審美功能。因此,對模糊語言的理解和翻譯在文學(xué)作品的翻譯中有著重要意義。 文學(xué)作品被認(rèn)為是模糊信息的載體。《圍城》作為中國二十世紀(jì)最偉大的文學(xué)作品之一,在語言運(yùn)用的各個層次上均使用了模糊語言,從而產(chǎn)生一種幽默、風(fēng)趣、形象生動的語言魅力。雖然模糊性是所有語言的共性,但由于不同的生活和文化背景,英語和漢語在模糊方式和模糊美感方面有著巨大的差異,,這些差異給翻譯帶來了諸多挑戰(zhàn)和困難。能否成功地把源語中的模糊語言轉(zhuǎn)譯到目標(biāo)語中是衡量《圍城》翻譯的一個重要方面。由珍妮凱利和茅國權(quán)在1979合譯的《圍城》是迄今為止唯一的一個英文版本,自出版以來就激起了國內(nèi)外學(xué)者和譯者的興趣。他們分別從不同角度對《圍城》英譯本進(jìn)行研究并分析其得失。然而,《圍城》中的模糊語言并沒有引起足夠的重視,從模糊語言的角度來分析其翻譯的文章更是少之又少,這也是本文研究的動力所在。 本文以珍妮凱利和茅國權(quán)的譯本為參照,主要研究《圍城》中的模糊語言及其英語翻譯策略。一般來講,《圍城》中的模糊語言可以從以下幾個方面來進(jìn)行研究:語義模糊、語用模糊、修辭模糊和文化模糊。建立在對源語文本中的模糊語言及其英語翻譯的分析基礎(chǔ)之上,本文進(jìn)一步指出譯者在模糊語言的翻譯過程中存在的問題,并嘗試提出處理《圍城》中模糊語言的幾種翻譯方法。 由于各語言中的社會、歷史、文化差異,翻譯被認(rèn)為是一項品嘗遺憾的事業(yè),特別是在模糊語言翻譯方面。在處理模糊語言的過程中,我們應(yīng)更多的關(guān)注源語中的語用功能和文化內(nèi)涵,盡量采取靈活合理的翻譯方法,在保留源語文化、模糊審美和符合英語表達(dá)習(xí)慣之間找到一個平衡點。
[Abstract]:Fuzziness is the basic characteristic and conventional phenomenon of the real world. As a language describing the objective world, fuzziness is inevitable. As one of the basic characteristics of language, fuzziness exists widely in any language in the world and frequently appears in people's daily communication and literary works. It can express infinite meaning with limited linguistic means. Using fuzzy language accurately can enhance the flexibility of language and improve the effect of language expression. Fuzzy language is vague and unclear in describing things, that is, the words of fuzzy language have a vague and broad semantic extension, especially in literary works, fuzzy language plays a special role in pragmatic and rhetorical aesthetic functions. Therefore, the understanding and translation of vague language plays an important role in the translation of literary works. Literature is considered to be the carrier of vague information. As one of the greatest literary works of the 20th century in China, vague language is used at all levels of language use, thus producing a kind of humor and humor. Vivid language charm. Although fuzziness is the commonality of all languages, due to different living and cultural backgrounds, English and Chinese have great differences in the way of vagueness and the beauty of vagueness. These differences have brought many challenges and difficulties to translation. Whether the vague language in the source language can be successfully translated into the target language is an important aspect of the translation of besieged city. Besieged by Jenny Kelly and Mao Guoquan in 1979 is the only English version so far and has aroused the interest of domestic and foreign scholars and translators since its publication. They studied the English version of besieged City from different angles and analyzed its gains and losses. However, the vague language in besieged city has not been paid enough attention to, and few articles have been translated from the angle of fuzzy language, which is the motive force of this thesis. Based on the translation of Jane Kelly and Mao Guoquan, this paper mainly studies the vague language and its English translation strategies in besieged City. Generally speaking, the vague language in besieged city can be studied from the following aspects: semantic ambiguity, pragmatic ambiguity, rhetorical ambiguity and cultural ambiguity. Based on the analysis of the fuzzy language in the source language and its English translation, this paper further points out the problems existing in the translation of the fuzzy language. Several translation methods are proposed to deal with vague language in besieged cities. Due to the social, historical and cultural differences in different languages, translation is considered to be a cause of tasting regret, especially in vague language translation. In the process of dealing with vague language, we should pay more attention to the pragmatic function and cultural connotation of the source language, and adopt flexible and reasonable translation methods to preserve the culture of the source language. Find a balance between vague aesthetics and English expressions.
