從語(yǔ)境理論視角分析戴乃迭英譯版《邊城》對(duì)湘西文化的傳播

【摘要】:語(yǔ)言學(xué)理論與翻譯研究一直有著一種錯(cuò)綜復(fù)雜的關(guān)系,雖然受語(yǔ)言學(xué)影響的翻譯研究主要盛行于20世紀(jì)50年代中期到80年代中期,但是語(yǔ)言學(xué)的影響卻一直沒(méi)有中斷,尤其是在以韓禮德為代表的系統(tǒng)功能語(yǔ)言學(xué)流派的興起之下大有卷土重來(lái)之勢(shì)。作為功能學(xué)派研究的一大重點(diǎn),語(yǔ)境理論由于其本身所具有的社會(huì)性和文化性,也一直受到翻譯研究者的青睞。 本文以語(yǔ)境理論為基本框架,試圖從文化傳播的角度對(duì)戴乃迭英譯本《邊城》進(jìn)行全面深入的文本分析,從而探討戴乃迭在翻譯《邊城》時(shí)所采取的翻譯策略和文化傳播策略。 基于韓禮德對(duì)語(yǔ)境理論的基本論述以及哈蒂姆、梅森對(duì)語(yǔ)境理論在翻譯研究中的應(yīng)用分析,本文將從兩個(gè)方面著手:第一,從情景語(yǔ)境的角度分析戴乃迭對(duì)《邊城》中人物對(duì)話(huà)的翻譯,討論她是何如處理人物對(duì)話(huà)所體現(xiàn)出來(lái)的語(yǔ)言變體特征;第二,從文化語(yǔ)境的角度討論她對(duì)《邊城》這本小說(shuō)中其他文化成分的處理,從而分析她翻譯時(shí)采取的文化傳播策略。通過(guò)以上分析,本文將得出兩個(gè)結(jié)論:第一,借助語(yǔ)境理論對(duì)《邊城》的翻譯文本進(jìn)行系統(tǒng)化分析,可以全面地認(rèn)識(shí)到戴乃迭是如何靈活地處理小說(shuō)中人物對(duì)話(huà)的語(yǔ)言變體特征和小說(shuō)中豐富的湘西文化內(nèi)涵;第二,戴乃迭在翻譯整部小說(shuō)的時(shí)候,采取的都是盡量向國(guó)外讀者介紹湘西文化的一種文化傳播策略。
[Abstract]:Linguistic theory and translation studies have always had a complicated relationship. Although the linguistic influence of translation studies mainly prevailed from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s, the influence of linguistics has not been interrupted. Especially in the Halliday represented by the rise of the school of systemic functional linguistics has made a comeback. As a major focus of functional school, contextual theory has been favored by translation researchers because of its sociality and culture. Taking context theory as the basic framework, this paper attempts to make a comprehensive and in-depth textual analysis of Dai Naidi's English translation of "Border City" from the perspective of cultural communication, so as to explore the translation strategies and cultural communication strategies adopted by Dai Naidi in the translation of "Border City". Based on Halliday's basic exposition of context theory and HarTim Mason's analysis of the application of context theory in translation studies, this paper will proceed from two aspects: first, From the perspective of situational context, this paper analyzes Dai Naidi's translation of the dialogues in the Frontier, and discusses that she is a linguistic variant of He Ru's handling of the dialogues. From the perspective of cultural context, this paper discusses her treatment of other cultural elements in the novel "Frontier City", and analyzes the cultural communication strategies adopted by her in translation. Through the above analysis, this paper will draw two conclusions: first, with the help of context theory, the translation of "Border Town" will be systematically analyzed. It can be fully recognized how Dai Naidi flexibly deals with the linguistic variation of the dialogue between the characters in the novel and the rich cultural connotations of Xiangxi in the novel. Secondly, when he is translating the whole novel, Dai Naidi is translating the whole novel. It is a cultural communication strategy to introduce Xiangxi culture to foreign readers as far as possible.
