【摘要】：本次研究采用了定性分析和定量分析兩種方式探索了《紅樓夢》霍克斯譯本的文化的不可譯性及翻譯補償策略。初步研究表明,由于源語與目的語之間存在著文化差異,為了能使目的語讀者更好地理解源語的文化內(nèi)涵,目的語中譯成的文化內(nèi)容,并非完全逐字照翻源語表層意思直譯,增益和其他翻譯補償形式也被運用。通過上述定性與定量相結合的研究方法,本文作者找出目的語與源語之間的文化的空白,從而確定文化的相對不可譯性并找到補償翻譯過程中文化缺失的各種方法。 研究表明,霍克斯的《紅樓夢》英譯本有些翻譯來自字對字的直譯,有些來自其他形式,甚至還有些來自作者的直接創(chuàng)作�？紤]到譯文風格的統(tǒng)一性,本文以霍克斯《紅樓夢》英譯本中的前80章為研究對象,通過收集資料和問卷調(diào)查形式,試圖用更客觀的方法證明這種現(xiàn)象是否普遍存在,進而探索霍克斯在翻譯《紅樓夢》中的文化內(nèi)容時所采用的翻譯補償策略。 該研究主要研究結果如下： 1.由于東西方文化的差異,文化的翻譯具有相對不可譯的特點。 2.霍譯本中的文化翻譯有些是直譯,有些根據(jù)源語意義翻譯的基礎上加了注釋,有些翻譯是對源語意義翻譯后的一種補充,還有一些翻譯來自作者的直接創(chuàng)作。 3.本文作者認為,通過翻譯補償策略的使用,可以彌補文化翻譯中可能引發(fā)目的語讀者誤解,不解之處,并填補目的語讀者的文化背景空缺。
[Abstract]:In this study, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis are used to explore the cultural untranslatability and translation compensation strategies of the Hawks version of A Dream of Red Mansions. The preliminary study shows that due to the cultural differences between the source language and the target language, in order to make the target language readers better understand the cultural connotation of the source language, the cultural content translated in the target language is not completely literal translation of the surface meaning of the source language. Gain and other forms of translation compensation are also used. Through the above qualitative and quantitative research methods, the author finds out the cultural gap between the target language and the source language, thus determining the relative untranslatability of the culture and finding various ways to compensate for the cultural deficiency in the translation process. The study shows that some translation of Hawkes' Dream of Red Mansions comes from literal translation of word pairs, some from other forms, and some from the author's direct works. Considering the unity of the translation style, this paper takes the first 80 chapters of Hawkes' English version of A Dream of Red Mansions as the research object, and attempts to prove whether this phenomenon is common or not by collecting data and questionnaire surveys. Then it explores the translation compensation strategies adopted by Hawks in translating the cultural content in A Dream of Red Mansions. The main results of this study are as follows: 1. Due to the cultural differences between the East and the West, the translation of culture is relatively untranslatable. Some of the cultural translations in Huo's translation are literal, some are annotated on the basis of the translation of the source language meaning, some are complementary to the translation of the source language meaning, and some translation comes from the author's direct creation. The author believes that the use of translation compensation strategies can make up for the misunderstanding and confusion of the target language readers in cultural translation and fill the cultural background gaps of the target language readers.
