林語(yǔ)堂《京華煙云》中的雜合性翻譯

【摘要】:“雜合”(hybrid)最早是生物學(xué)用語(yǔ),后來(lái)語(yǔ)言學(xué)、文學(xué)理論和文化研究等其它學(xué)科也借用了這一概念。從翻譯策略角度講,雜合是歸化和異化矛盾的終結(jié),是在語(yǔ)言和文化層面上歸化和異化手段的完美結(jié)合。國(guó)內(nèi)外曾有學(xué)者對(duì)翻譯中的雜合現(xiàn)象進(jìn)行過(guò)研究。雖然這些研究提出了許多建設(shè)性的觀點(diǎn),但顯得不夠系統(tǒng),缺乏理論支持。鑒于先前研究的不足之處,作者在本文中采用了后殖民主義翻譯理論,為翻譯中的雜合提供了理論支持。 根據(jù)后殖民主義理論,第三世界的作家移居到西方第一世界,盡管他們寫(xiě)作的語(yǔ)言是西方第一世界的語(yǔ)言,針對(duì)的讀者基本上也是生活在第一世界的國(guó)家,但他們所寫(xiě)的主要還是發(fā)生在第三世界國(guó)家的事情,寫(xiě)出的作品就是翻譯的作品,寫(xiě)作的過(guò)程亦是翻譯的過(guò)程。小說(shuō)《京華煙云》林語(yǔ)堂首先是用英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作,而涉及到卻是中國(guó)文化的內(nèi)容,這樣寫(xiě)作本身就是一種翻譯過(guò)程。鑒于此,本文旨在從后殖民角度分析《京華煙云》原著中的雜合性翻譯。 本文在前人對(duì)后殖民主義翻譯理論研究的基礎(chǔ)上,并結(jié)合紐馬克對(duì)翻譯中涉及的文化因素分類,從雜合性角度對(duì)《京華煙云》展開(kāi)了定量和定性的研究。定量研究是為了弄清在各類文化的翻譯中,歸化和異化所占比例,進(jìn)而得出雜合度的高低。進(jìn)行定性分析是為了判斷歸化和異化在各類文化翻譯中的具體運(yùn)用。 分析顯示:《京華煙云》中文化翻譯呈現(xiàn)出明顯的雜合性翻譯特征,異化在翻譯策略占有較大比重。具體來(lái)講,異化的翻譯策略在生態(tài)文化的翻譯中比較多地得到運(yùn)用;歸化在關(guān)于社會(huì)組織,習(xí)俗,和思想的文化翻譯中運(yùn)用的較多。分析結(jié)果表明:雜合性的翻譯策略能夠更好地保留原著的異質(zhì)成分,對(duì)不同民族文化的交流產(chǎn)生積極的影響,有利于漢語(yǔ)文化這樣的弱勢(shì)文化在發(fā)達(dá)的西方國(guó)家的強(qiáng)勢(shì)文化中的傳播, 通過(guò)對(duì)這部英文小說(shuō)翻譯策略的分析,證明文學(xué)翻譯中的雜合化策略有機(jī)地結(jié)合了歸化和異化,既有利于譯文讀者對(duì)原著內(nèi)容的理解并接受,又在文化全球化的背景下對(duì)中國(guó)文化的對(duì)外傳輸帶來(lái)有益啟示。
[Abstract]:Hybrids were first used as biological terms, and later this concept was borrowed from other disciplines such as linguistics, literary theory and cultural studies. From the perspective of translation strategy, heterozygosity is the end of the contradiction between domestication and alienation, and the perfect combination of domestication and dissimilation at the linguistic and cultural levels. Some scholars at home and abroad have studied the phenomenon of heterozygosity in translation. Although these studies have put forward many constructive views, they are not systematic enough and lack theoretical support. In view of the shortcomings of previous studies, the author adopts post-colonial translation theory, which provides theoretical support for hybrid translation. According to post-colonialism theory, third world writers emigrate to the first world of the West. Although the language they write is the language of the Western first World, and the readers are basically also living in the first World, what they write mainly happens in the third world, and the work they write is translated. The process of writing is also a process of translation. The novel "Jinghua Yanyun" Lin Yutang is first written in English, but involves the content of Chinese culture, so writing itself is a process of translation. In view of this, this paper aims to analyze the heterozygous translation in the original book "Beijing Yanyun" from the perspective of post-colonial. Based on the previous studies on the translation theory of post-colonialism, this paper classifies the cultural factors involved in translation by Newmark. From the point of heterozygosity, the quantitative and qualitative studies on Jinghua smoke cloud were carried out. The purpose of quantitative study is to find out the proportion of domestication and alienation in the translation of various cultures, and then to get the degree of heterozygosity. The qualitative analysis is aimed at judging the concrete application of domestication and alienation in various cultural translation. The analysis shows that cultural translation in Beijing Yanyun shows obvious heterozygous features, and alienation occupies a large proportion in translation strategies. Specifically, the translation strategy of alienation is applied more frequently in the translation of ecological culture, and domestication in the cultural translation of social organization, custom, and thought. The results show that heterozygous translation strategies can better retain the heterogeneity of the original works and have a positive impact on the communication of different cultures. Through the analysis of the translation strategy of this English novel, it is proved that the hybrid strategy in literary translation combines domestication and alienation organically. It is not only conducive to the readers' understanding and acceptance of the original works, but also beneficial to the transmission of Chinese culture to the outside world under the background of cultural globalization.
