文藝“象征”(Symbol)概念辨析

【摘要】:“象征”(symbol)內(nèi)涵也相當(dāng)復(fù)雜的概念,本文主要在歷時(shí)的層面上,梳理一條“象征”概念的內(nèi)涵變化線索。最初“symbol”只是一個(gè)代表友情的信物,后來進(jìn)入宗教領(lǐng)域后,成為溝通人與神之間關(guān)系的一種神秘事物。人為性和約定俗成性是其基本的語義范圍。在十八世紀(jì)的美學(xué)、文論里,“symbol”與其所代表事物之間的人為性、約定俗成性或公共性這一語義范圍并沒有發(fā)生根本改變。自從法國象征主義興起以后,“象征”不但內(nèi)涵發(fā)生了重大變化,同時(shí)其理論地位也發(fā)生了重大轉(zhuǎn)折。經(jīng)過不同理論家的發(fā)揮,文論中的“象征”內(nèi)涵還進(jìn)一步豐富或擴(kuò)大。 “象征”作為一個(gè)理論范疇是伴隨著法國象征主義而進(jìn)入中國文論或文學(xué)的概念。由于特殊的接受語境,“象征”的理論內(nèi)涵經(jīng)歷了一個(gè)逐漸泛化的過程,同時(shí)其理論地位也不斷提高,在四十年代,某些理論家甚至用“象征”概括詩歌的本質(zhì)特性。四十年代以后“象征”淡出了中國文論。七十年代,隨著環(huán)境的變化,“象征”重新受到人們的關(guān)注,其理論內(nèi)涵同樣經(jīng)歷了一個(gè)逐漸泛化甚至是誤讀的過程,在這個(gè)過程中,“象征”的理論地位也不斷提高。
[Abstract]:The connotation of "symbolism" is also quite complicated, this paper is mainly on the diachronic level. Combing out a clue to the change of connotation of the concept of "symbolism". At first, "symbol" was only a token of friendship, but later entered the field of religion. It is a mysterious thing that communicates the relationship between human beings and gods. The basic semantic scope of it is human nature and convention. In the aesthetics and literary theory in 18th century. Since the rise of French symbolism, the semantic scope of "symbol" and the artificial nature, commonality or publicity between them has not fundamentally changed. "symbolism" has not only changed its connotation, but also its theoretical position has taken a significant turn. Through the exertion of different theorists, the connotation of "symbolism" in literary theory has been further enriched or expanded. "symbolism" as a theoretical category is accompanied by French symbolism and into the Chinese literary theory or the concept of literature, due to the special context of acceptance. The theoretical connotation of "symbolism" has undergone a gradual process of generalization, and its theoretical position has also been continuously improved in 40s. Some theorists even use "symbolism" to generalize the essential characteristics of poetry. After 40s, "symbolism" faded out of Chinese literary theory. In 70s, with the change of environment, "symbolism" received people's attention again. Its theoretical connotation has also gone through a process of gradual generalization and even misreading. In this process, the theoretical position of symbolism has also been continuously improved.
