美國當(dāng)代黑人女作家艾利斯·沃克(Alice Walker, 1944-)的第四部小說《我知交的神殿》是她早期小說邏輯上的延伸。就探討的主題而言,是她所倡導(dǎo)的婦女主義思想的進(jìn)一步發(fā)展。當(dāng)她筆下的婦女?dāng)[脫了種種壓迫,獲得解放后,她又賦予筆下的人物以新的追求。在小說中,她重新構(gòu)建了人類的歷史,探究了從遠(yuǎn)古到現(xiàn)代人類對女神的崇拜,并且重新構(gòu)建了新時(shí)代下婦女主義內(nèi)在的精神實(shí)質(zhì)。此外,在探索歷史上男人和女人之間紛繁復(fù)雜的關(guān)系時(shí),她重新界定兩性之間的和諧關(guān)系應(yīng)該建立在平等的基礎(chǔ)之上,并強(qiáng)調(diào)尊重個(gè)性自由的觀點(diǎn)。最后,沃克根據(jù)自己婦女主義的獨(dú)特的目標(biāo),賦予人類和一切非人類以神性。并倡導(dǎo)要以女性為榜樣,創(chuàng)造自然與人類的和諧統(tǒng)一。就此,在這部小說中,沃克所要探索的人類的真正的解放之路,以及新時(shí)代下的婦女主義得到了進(jìn)一步發(fā)展。
