本篇論文對(duì)威廉.福克納的小說(shuō)《喧囂與騷動(dòng)》中康普生家族解體進(jìn)行了深入探討。在探討之前,文章首先解決的是方法論的問(wèn)題。在第二章中,文章分析了《喧囂與騷動(dòng)》中使用最多的意識(shí)流寫作技巧——并置手法,然后指出適合本小說(shuō)的一種文學(xué)批評(píng)方法為法國(guó)結(jié)構(gòu)主義諸流派中的一個(gè)著名分支一以A.J.Greimas為代表的文學(xué)符號(hào)學(xué)。因該學(xué)派對(duì)于很多中國(guó)讀者來(lái)說(shuō)還不是十分熟悉,本文在第二章第一節(jié)對(duì)此作了簡(jiǎn)單介紹。通過(guò)將康普生家族成員帶入符號(hào)矩陣（1）,小說(shuō)的表層結(jié)構(gòu)得以呈現(xiàn)。反映在矩陣（1）中的康普生家族成員之間的矛盾表現(xiàn)為不同形態(tài):互不相容的心理特征,針?shù)h相對(duì)的人生信條,利益沖突,以及性格差異等。第三章分析了康家的主要家庭矛盾,即凱蒂與康普生三兄弟之間的矛盾;第四章則分析了康家的次要家庭矛盾,即黑人女奴迪爾希和康普生家庭之間以及凱蒂和小昆丁之間的矛盾。在第五章節(jié)中,表現(xiàn)表層結(jié)構(gòu)的矩陣（1）被進(jìn)一步抽象為表現(xiàn)小說(shuō)深層次結(jié)構(gòu)的矩陣（2）。對(duì)矩陣（2）的分析證實(shí)了康普生家族深陷于道德危機(jī)之中而家族中的積極力量還遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不足以將其從危機(jī)中解救出來(lái)。正是由于這個(gè)原因,康普生家族的解體不可避免。
