《押沙龍,押沙龍!》中的兩大矛盾特征,即歷史性和反歷史性,已得到評論界的公認,但多數(shù)評論家只注意到兩者的對立,而忽視了兩者的內(nèi)在一致性。本文旨在論證《押沙龍,押沙龍!》的反歷史性不僅是對歷史性的一種批判、反撥和解構(gòu),更是對歷史性的超越和競爭性互補,兩大支柱統(tǒng)一于福克納深刻的人文關(guān)懷中!堆荷除,押沙龍》中展現(xiàn)的歷史畫卷核心是主體性的極度膨脹,自我中心主義意識的極力強化,和對他者聲音的無情壓抑;百里莊園的坍塌,斯特潘宏圖的破滅,南方的敗落本質(zhì)上體現(xiàn)了西方以自我為坐標范式的“主導(dǎo)敘事”單值概念的失敗。而反歷史性敘述手法的應(yīng)用——多角度敘述,呼喊和回應(yīng)手法,有效沉默和逆轉(zhuǎn)——顛覆了中心和邊緣,自我和他者的二元對立結(jié)構(gòu)模式,為他者聲音的釋放提供了有效的途徑,表現(xiàn)了對長期為主流文化所忽視、冷落的邊緣群體的重視。歷史性與反歷史性的統(tǒng)一要追溯到福克納自我和他者的雙重身份。南北戰(zhàn)爭的失敗、北軍的占領(lǐng)、經(jīng)濟的衰敗打破了一系列關(guān)于南方優(yōu)越的神話,南方在美國主流文化中成了窮山惡水、野蠻原始、民風刁潑、愚昧無知的代名詞。南方人,尤其是南方男性白人,深刻體會到他者只能被別人所定義、所描繪、所解釋,沒有主體,沒有...
