[Abstract]:Margaret Duras is the most creative figure in contemporary France. In half a century of artistic creation, Duras left valuable spiritual wealth for the world. Duras has a mixed cultural identity and his childhood experience in the East has become an important source of material and inspiration for Duras later creation. Orient is an important theme in Duras' creation. It plays an important role in 33 novels and 11 plays. In the second half of the twentieth century, influenced by irrational thoughts, Duras extended the tentacles of his writing to the shadowed edge and irrational field. In western central discourse, the East is endowed with marginal, irrational and heterogeneity. These qualities of the East coincide with the theme of Duras' performance. Duras created a unique oriental world by using profound artistic sensibility and skillfully connecting the writing theme with the East. This paper will consist of the following parts: the introduction first introduces Duras' mixed Eastern and Western background and Oriental novels, and briefly reviews the current research situation of Duras' works both at home and abroad. Finally, the author points out that the purpose of this thesis is to re-examine the oriental world written by Duras from the point of view of eastern and western cultures. The first chapter studies the exile and edge of the oriental world written by Duras. The oriental world in his works can be summed up as a world of exile and fringe. Duras presents oriental suffering and isolation, edge and heterogeneity with mixed cultural identity. In Calcutta, the eastern city, rootless drifters are written. Chapter two studies the irrationality and heterogeneity of the oriental world written by Duras. The oriental world in his works presents an irrational and heterogeneous world. The female madmen of the colony symbolized the universal madness. Music, intoxication and leprosy are irrational forms of expression, which provide a strong evidence for HomiBaba's theory of "interstitial space". Chapter three studies the theme of desire and power in the oriental world written by Duras. The East is the object of desire in the West and the symbol of lust. The theme of desire and body writing are important propositions in Duras' creation. In postcolonial discourse, the relationship between sexual desire and sexual desire becomes the symbol of power between East and West. The conclusion of this paper is based on the conclusion that Duras' mixed cultural identity provides the possibility for his three-dimensional and multi-sided oriental narration. With the emphasis on the cultural differences between the East and the West and the diversity of culture, Duras' works full of tension and thickness are worth examining and pondering over again.
