奈保爾《河灣》的敘述文體學研究

【摘要】:維迪雅達·蘇拉吉普拉薩德·奈保爾是20世紀最杰出的英語小說家之一,他在2001年度榮獲諾貝爾文學獎,常常被人們稱作加勒比海文學之父,而且是典型的后殖民作家。由于其本身的多重文化背景使得奈保爾的作品充滿著矛盾,奈保爾對后殖民國家表現(xiàn)出又愛又恨的復(fù)雜心態(tài)。因此他的作品很多都反映了殖民地爭取獨立或獨立后暴露的種種社會問題。 本論文在前人研究的基礎(chǔ)上,通過作者個人的見解,重點從敘述文體學的研究視角分析小說的敘述和語言藝術(shù)效果。通過探討巧妙的創(chuàng)作技巧和相關(guān)的主題思想來區(qū)分敘述文體學的研究方法。 首先,在敘述層面,本論文主要采用了對人物視角的分析來展開討論,如通過對第一人稱敘述視角和第三人稱內(nèi)視角的分別敘述來分析整個故事的發(fā)生發(fā)展。奈保爾主要采用第一人稱的敘述視角,使讀者與敘述者之間減少了時間空間的差距,具有真實感,使讀者有“身臨其境”,“親生經(jīng)歷”的感覺;奈保爾還采用了第三人稱內(nèi)視角來渲染人物形象。從第三人稱視角來敘述,是以某個觀察者的角度來客觀地描述事件,具有客觀性,使事件生動具體。正是因為奈保爾主要采用了這兩種敘述方式,他的觀點,思想在文中表現(xiàn)得淋漓盡致,與小說的主題不謀而合。 其次,在語言層面,本論文通過話語表達方式和修辭方法來展開討論。其中奈保爾主要采用的話語表達方式分別為自由間接引語和自由直接引語來表述人物的話語和思想,使敘述者與讀者面對面的交流,吸引了讀者的全部注意力。在修辭方法上,本論文主要使用了象征,反諷和暗喻的手段來探討了小說的語言。奈保爾是使用修辭手段的高手,從小說題目到具體的內(nèi)容都充斥了各種修辭手段,使小說的語言充滿了諷刺和徘徊不定的韻味,與小說的主題思想融合在一起。本論文認為,正是由于作者在敘述層面和語言層面的各個技巧的應(yīng)用,,使得小說獲得了如此巨大的成功。 總之,本論文試著從敘述文體學的敘事技巧和語言特征兩個方面對小說的主題進行分析,深化了奈保爾《河灣》關(guān)于后殖民國家黑暗落后的社會狀況和人們?nèi)鄙贇w屬感的主題思想。簡言之,通過對奈保爾《河灣》的探討和分析,我們可以進一步理解這位20世紀杰出的后殖民作家的創(chuàng)作精神以及其作品所折射出來的社會意義。
[Abstract]:Vidyada Sulaghi Prasad Naipaul is one of the most outstanding English novelists in the 20th century. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2001 and is often called the father of Caribbean literature and a typical post-colonial writer. Because of its multi-cultural background, Naipaul's works are full of contradictions, Naipaul shows a complex state of love and hate towards the post-colonial countries. Therefore, many of his works reflect the various social problems exposed by the colony in its struggle for independence or after independence. On the basis of previous studies, this paper analyzes the narrative and linguistic effects of the novel from the perspective of narrative stylistics. The research methods of narrative stylistics are distinguished by exploring ingenious creative techniques and related thematic ideas. First of all, in the narrative level, this paper mainly uses the analysis of the perspective of the characters, such as the first person narrative perspective and the third person perspective to analyze the development of the story. Naipaul mainly adopts the first person narrative perspective to reduce the gap between time and space between the reader and the narrator, to have a sense of reality, and to make the reader feel "real experience" and "real experience". Naipaul also used the third person perspective to render the characters. Narration from the perspective of the third person is an objective description of events from an observer's point of view, with objectivity and vividness. It is precisely because Naipaul mainly adopts these two kinds of narration, his viewpoint, thought displays incisively and vividly in the text, coincides with the theme of the novel. Secondly, at the linguistic level, this thesis is discussed through discourse expression and rhetoric. Naipaul mainly uses free indirect speech and free direct speech to express the characters' words and thoughts, so that the narrator and the reader can communicate face to face and attract the readers' attention. In terms of rhetoric, this thesis mainly uses symbolism, irony and metaphor to explore the language of the novel. Naipaul is an expert in the use of rhetorical devices. From the title of the novel to the concrete content, it is filled with various rhetorical devices, which makes the language of the novel full of satire and lingering charm, and melts with the theme of the novel. This thesis holds that it is the application of various techniques in narrative and language that makes the novel a great success. In a word, this thesis tries to analyze the theme of the novel from the narrative techniques and language characteristics of narrative stylistics. It deepens Naipaul's main idea about the dark and backward social conditions of postcolonial countries and the lack of sense of belonging. In short, through the discussion and analysis of Naipaul, we can further understand the creative spirit of this outstanding post-colonial writer in the 20th century and the social significance reflected in his works.
