【摘要】：作為美國第一位獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎的女作家,賽珍珠備受爭議,她因?qū)χ袊钌鷦佣挥型樾牡拿鑼懚劽谑馈Ｗ?931年出版以來,她的小說《大地》一直暢銷世界。本文采用文本分析的方法并結(jié)合薩義德的理論,以認(rèn)真閱讀賽珍珠的小說和傳記為基礎(chǔ),分析賽珍珠的寫作動機(jī)并探究作品的文化意義。本論文由引言、正文和結(jié)論三部分組成。 引言部分在綜述國內(nèi)外對賽珍珠研究的基礎(chǔ)上提出作者的觀點(diǎn),即賽珍珠不僅是客觀的觀察者,還是一個殖民者。引言同時對本論文的基本論點(diǎn)、結(jié)構(gòu)和主要內(nèi)容及研究方法進(jìn)行了簡要介紹。 第一章介紹賽珍珠的生活背景。還在襁褓之中的她很小就被傳教士的父母帶到中國生活。正是如此獨(dú)特的成長背景使她同時熟知中美兩種文化。但隨著中美之間一系列歷史的和政治的矛盾,賽珍珠經(jīng)過內(nèi)心沖突而最終認(rèn)同了美國身份。 第二章集中論述《大地》中所表現(xiàn)服飾、飲食和其它社會風(fēng)俗所體現(xiàn)的文化意義以及所暗含的東西方差異。這些差異在很大程度上滿足了西方讀者的獵奇心理,因此也是小說暢銷的重要原因之一。 第三章討論小說體現(xiàn)出的中西文化間的共鳴,包括王龍的“美國夢”、土地情結(jié)和儒家及基督教共有的仁慈。賽珍珠賦予其主要人物以美國精神。事實(shí)上這也是感動西方讀者的主要因素。 第四章探究小說的寫作立場。賽珍珠真實(shí)地描寫了中國農(nóng)民的生活,包括服飾、飲食等方面。但是除了在小說中描寫一貫慷慨善良的白人形象,她還以西方標(biāo)準(zhǔn)塑造了主人公。這些都證明賽珍珠兼有忠實(shí)敘述者和殖民主義者的立場。 最后結(jié)語部分指出,賽珍珠在寫作中體現(xiàn)了由其獨(dú)特成長背景決定的雙重立場。她確實(shí)改善了以往西方人中扭曲的中國人形象,但同時也幫助了西方話語霸權(quán)的構(gòu)建。
[Abstract]:As the first American female writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, Pearl Buck is well known for her vivid and compassionate portrayal of Chinese life. Since its publication in 1931, her novel the Earth has been popular in the world. This paper adopts the method of text analysis and the theory of said, based on reading Pearl Buck's novels and biographies, analyzes the motive of Pearl Buck's writing and explores the cultural significance of her works. This thesis consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. In the foreword part, the author points out that Pearl Buck is not only an objective observer, but also a colonist on the basis of summarizing the research on Pearl Buck at home and abroad. The introduction also briefly introduces the basic points, structure, main contents and research methods of this paper. The first chapter introduces the background of Pearl Buck's life. Still in her infancy, she was brought to China by the missionary's parents when she was very young. It was this unique background that made her familiar with both Chinese and American cultures. However, with a series of historical and political contradictions between China and the United States, Pearl Buck finally identified with the identity of the United States through internal conflicts. The second chapter focuses on the cultural significance of dress, diet and other social customs as well as the implied differences between East and West. These differences satisfy Western readers' curiosity to a great extent and are one of the important reasons why the novel is popular. The third chapter discusses the resonance between Chinese and western cultures embodied in the novel, including Wang long's American Dream, the land complex and the common benevolence of Confucianism and Christianity. Pearl Buck endowed her main characters with American spirit. In fact, this is also the main factor that moves the western readers. Chapter four explores the writing standpoint of the novel. Pearl Buck truly describes the life of Chinese farmers, including clothing, diet and so on. But in addition to portraying a white figure that is always generous and kind, she portrays the protagonist by Western standards. All this proves that Pearl Buck has both a faithful narrator and a colonialist position. Finally, the conclusion points out that Pearl Buck embodies the dual position decided by her unique background in her writing. She did improve the distorted image of the Chinese in the past Westerners, but also helped to construct the western discourse hegemony.
