[Abstract]:As one of the greatest writers in the early nineteenth century, David Herbert Lawrence's works have attracted a large number of readers to interpret them from different angles for their profound and unique connotation. In Lawrence's view, the destruction of human nature caused by capitalist industrial civilization is far more serious than that of nature. Therefore, in the novel White Peacock, Lawrence vividly describes how human nature succumbs to mechanical civilization and how the harmonious relationship between man and nature is damaged by capitalist industrialization, thus presenting the theme of the opposition between man and nature.Because the novel White Peacock shows Lawrence's concern about the complex relationship between man and nature, between man and society and between man and man themselves, this paper attempts to interpret Lawrence's ecological thought, including the natural ecological thought, embodied in the novel White Peacock.Social ecological thought and spiritual ecological thought.Lawrence firmly believes that only by working hard to reconcile these three relationships can human beings achieve a true balance. In the first chapter, Lawrence's natural ecological thought is fully reflected in the nature description of White Peacock.Lawrence not only noticed the inextricable relationship between man and nature, but also realized that the rapid development of human civilization, especially industrial civilization, had caused great damage to nature. The second and third chapters further illustrate Lawrence's concern about social ecology and spiritual ecology in White Peacock.Industrial civilization not only destroys the beautiful nature, but also destroys the human nature, distorts the normal relationship between human beings, and causes the human being to suffer the double torment of the separation of mind and body. Therefore, Lawrence pointed out that only by keeping close to nature and integrating into nature can human beings rebuild their spiritual homeland. In short, Lawrence reflected his anxiety about human ecological imbalance in White Peacock, which reflected his visionary ecological philosophy.Lawrence hopes that the novel can arouse the good ecological consciousness of human beings, so as to form a harmonious relationship between man and nature, between man and man, between man and himself, and finally to realize the ideal of building a harmonious ecological home.
