近年來(lái),隨著中國(guó)文化對(duì)外傳播的發(fā)展,《三國(guó)演義》等典籍的英譯研究也受到了譯者的關(guān)注。作為一部軍事小說(shuō),官職名無(wú)疑是《三國(guó)演義》中最具代表性的文化負(fù)載詞之一。然而,在現(xiàn)有《三國(guó)演義》的英譯研究中,有關(guān)其官職英譯的研究還比較少,也缺乏系統(tǒng)性。因此,本文將以此為突破口,以翻譯適應(yīng)選擇論為理論指導(dǎo),對(duì)《三國(guó)演義》中官職名的英譯進(jìn)行系統(tǒng)的分析研究。翻譯適應(yīng)選擇論將翻譯活動(dòng)看作是譯者在“翻譯生態(tài)環(huán)境”中的適應(yīng)和選擇過(guò)程。其方法可以概括為三維轉(zhuǎn)換,“即在‘多維度適應(yīng)和適應(yīng)性選擇’的原則下,相對(duì)地集中于語(yǔ)言維、文化維和交際維的適應(yīng)性選擇轉(zhuǎn)換”(胡,2004:133)。通過(guò)對(duì)《三國(guó)演義》中的官職名進(jìn)行分類(lèi)對(duì)比后發(fā)現(xiàn),三國(guó)時(shí)期官職名雖然結(jié)構(gòu)復(fù)雜,名稱多樣,內(nèi)涵豐富,但其京官、省官以及軍銜的名稱組成卻有一定的規(guī)律可循,這就為官職名英譯的系統(tǒng)研究提供了依據(jù)。本文以羅慕士的英譯本為研究對(duì)象,分析譯者在翻譯不同官職名時(shí)所采用的翻譯技巧以及其產(chǎn)生的效果,并提出改進(jìn)建議。研究發(fā)現(xiàn),譯者在翻譯中國(guó)古代官職名時(shí),可以綜合運(yùn)用音譯、套譯、釋義、加注、泛化、增譯和省略等一系列技巧,提高翻譯質(zhì)量,擴(kuò)大受眾面。其中,在語(yǔ)言形式層...
