論《世界文學(xué)》(1934-1935)連載翻譯小說《白璧得》的翻譯風(fēng)格

中華民國是中國歷史上大轉(zhuǎn)變的時期。新文化運動開始后,文學(xué)革命倡導(dǎo)者把翻譯文學(xué)當(dāng)成文學(xué)革命的重要手段,小說翻譯具有啟發(fā)民智,改造社會的作用。伍蠡甫于1934年創(chuàng)辦期刊《世界文學(xué)》,并由其創(chuàng)辦的黎民書局發(fā)行,它成為引進國外優(yōu)秀作品的重要場地。本文選取刊登在《世界文學(xué)》期刊上連載的美國作家Sinclair Lewis(辛克萊·劉易斯)的小說Babbitt(《白璧得》)作為個案研究,它于1930年成為美國歷史上第一部獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎的作品。該作品描繪了資本主義社會的利益關(guān)系。作者用幽默、諷刺的方式描寫出了當(dāng)時地道的美國風(fēng)貌,諷刺了資產(chǎn)階級的庸俗,人情淡漠,以及利益關(guān)系。原文辭藻華麗,邏輯嚴(yán)謹,各類細節(jié)描寫甚多。本文主要基于文化學(xué)派的描述性翻譯研究和文化多元系統(tǒng)理論,從主要社會文化語境、譯者的審美觀、譯者采用的翻譯策略以及翻譯技巧,探討《世界文學(xué)》洪深和紀(jì)澤長譯連載翻譯小說《白璧得》中的翻譯風(fēng)格。譯者對文化負載詞、修辭手法,和語言的處理方法上均采用歸化翻譯與異化翻譯相結(jié)合,并大量采用音譯和直接謄寫專有詞匯,正反譯聯(lián)合使用,逐字譯和意譯交叉使用,補充原文隱含的內(nèi)容以及刪除部分內(nèi)容的翻譯處理方法。譯...
