《榆樹(shù)下的欲望》中的概念隱喻翻譯研究

《榆樹(shù)下的欲望》是美國(guó)著名劇作家尤金·奧尼爾的代表作之一,是美國(guó)文學(xué)中不可多得的經(jīng)典戲劇,被譽(yù)為美國(guó)戲劇史上“第一部偉大的悲劇”?v觀國(guó)內(nèi)外學(xué)者對(duì)該劇本的研究成果,從“悲劇根源”、“女性主義”、“人道主義”、“象征主義”、“神話原型”等文學(xué)視角進(jìn)行解讀的作品居多。本文另辟蹊徑,從隱喻這一角度切入,以概念隱喻理論為支撐,將隱喻與翻譯相結(jié)合,旨在探索戲劇中隱喻翻譯的方法。概念隱喻理論認(rèn)為,隱喻不僅是一種修辭手段,更是人們借助已知事物來(lái)認(rèn)知未來(lái)事物的思維方式,其本質(zhì)是人類對(duì)抽象范疇進(jìn)行概念化的基本方式,是從一個(gè)認(rèn)知域到另一個(gè)認(rèn)知域的映射過(guò)程。國(guó)內(nèi)外學(xué)者從不同角度對(duì)隱喻進(jìn)行了研究,其中將隱喻與翻譯相結(jié)合也成為了一種研究趨勢(shì)。隱喻翻譯活動(dòng)是受隱喻所賴以發(fā)生的社會(huì)環(huán)境、文化背景、生活經(jīng)驗(yàn)等多重因素的影響,是一種不同語(yǔ)言之間的思維轉(zhuǎn)換活動(dòng)。筆者通過(guò)對(duì)《榆樹(shù)下的欲望》中的隱喻進(jìn)行梳理,發(fā)現(xiàn)該劇本中的隱喻可以歸為三類:意象隱喻、情感隱喻以及時(shí)空隱喻。筆者首先從這三方面探究尤金·奧尼爾使用隱喻背后的認(rèn)知思維,并以汪義群,歐陽(yáng)基和李品偉三位譯者的《榆樹(shù)下的欲望》中譯本為例,通過(guò)對(duì)比分析三位譯者對(duì)隱喻翻譯的處...
