悲劇以其獨(dú)有的震撼力在世界文學(xué)史上占有重要地位，公元前五世紀(jì)的希臘是悲劇的發(fā)源地，產(chǎn)生了一些偉大的作品。莎士比亞時代的悲劇作品在文學(xué)史上也有極其重要的地位。但后來傳統(tǒng)意義上的悲劇作品和悲劇人物不多見了。然而英國作家托馬斯哈-代的悲劇小說以其獨(dú)特的魅力在十九世紀(jì)末頁英國文學(xué)中占有一席之地�？ㄋ固貥蚴虚L雖不是其最杰出的作品，卻典型反映了哈代人類無法掌握自己命運(yùn)的悲劇主題，主人公亨查德也是哈代創(chuàng)作的最具特色的悲劇人物之一。 亨查德的悲劇與傳統(tǒng)的悲劇人物有許多相似之處：自身性格缺陷使其犯下大錯，再加上惡勢力的打擊和命運(yùn)的作弄，導(dǎo)致他們事業(yè)失敗，名譽(yù)受損，最終以受難、死亡或失敗而告終。但是由于特定的歷史條件，亨查德的遭遇是人物性格和社會發(fā)展的必然性交錯起作用的結(jié)果。性格是導(dǎo)致其悲劇的原因之一，也是內(nèi)在因素，外在因素對其命運(yùn)的影響也不容忽視。當(dāng)時的英國正處于政治經(jīng)濟(jì)大變革的前夕，亨查德對這一過度時期的不適應(yīng)是導(dǎo)致其失敗的重要原因。 以往我國對文學(xué)作品的評論突出的是階級社會矛盾，西方評論則輕視社會影響而強(qiáng)調(diào)人物性格的沖突。本篇嘗試運(yùn)用分析對比手法，既從人物性格及人物關(guān)系方面尋找主人公悲劇...
