論林語堂《胡適之》漢譯本中的改寫

作為翻譯文化轉向的代表人物之一,安德烈·勒菲弗爾將翻譯看作改寫的一種形式,主張突破文本的局限,把翻譯放到意識形態(tài)、經濟和文化中進行討論,他尤其重視目標語文化對翻譯的影響,并歸納提出了翻譯研究的四個方面:意識形態(tài)、詩學、論域和語言。本研究主要以勒菲弗爾的改寫觀點為框架,分別從以上四個方面對《胡適之》漢譯本進行個案研究,以期通過大量文獻研究,對比分析,推測其改寫動機,探討譯本中具體的改寫現象。《胡適之》漢譯本是一篇不足千字的人物傳記,改譯自溫源寧發(fā)表于《中國評論周刊》上的英文原作Dr.HuShih—APhilosophe,譯者林語堂,該譯本極大程度上違背了譯者本人提出的“忠實”的翻譯標準。這一現象僅借語言學派理論難以得到合理解釋,更需要探討文本外因素對譯本操控的可能性,因此勒氏的改寫觀點具有借鑒意義。本研究發(fā)現,在意識形態(tài)層面上,譯作的壓力主要來自贊助人和專業(yè)人士,《胡適之》的改寫則主要受《人間世》雜志及兼出版者和譯者兩種身份的林語堂的操控。二十世紀前后的中國社會處于轉型的巨變中,文化、思想陣營林立,不同學者對中西文化表現出不同的傾向。在這種環(huán)境下,一方面,原作者溫源寧深受西方文化和英國文...
