語(yǔ)言是文化的載體,由于思維方式和文化傳統(tǒng)各不相同,不同民族的語(yǔ)言有著截然不同的文化寓意,語(yǔ)言使用習(xí)慣也各不相同。中西方文化間的巨大差異使得漢語(yǔ)和英語(yǔ)中都存在著大量的文化專有項(xiàng),即為某一語(yǔ)言所對(duì)應(yīng)的文化特有的、承載著文化引申義的詞匯和表達(dá)。而隨著中國(guó)國(guó)際地位的不斷提升,傳播好中國(guó)文化,推動(dòng)中國(guó)文化走向世界已成為一項(xiàng)有著重要意義的戰(zhàn)略。為此,在翻譯文學(xué)作品時(shí),對(duì)文化專有項(xiàng)的處理意義重大,譯者不僅要力求準(zhǔn)確譯出語(yǔ)義,更要注重傳達(dá)其中所蘊(yùn)含的文化要素。《駱駝祥子》是老舍先生的代表作,也是京味文學(xué)的集大成者。這部小說(shuō)自1936年問(wèn)世以來(lái)已被多次翻譯成英文,在西方世界引起了極大的反響。老舍在《駱駝祥子》中將中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化和獨(dú)具特色的北京文化展現(xiàn)得淋漓盡致,其中不可避免地運(yùn)用了大量的文化專有項(xiàng)。本文選取《駱駝祥子》施曉菁譯本和葛浩文譯本,從關(guān)聯(lián)理論的視角分析兩個(gè)譯本針對(duì)不同種類的文化專有項(xiàng)所采取的翻譯策略和方法,在此基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)一步探尋了兩個(gè)譯本在文化專有項(xiàng)翻譯方面存在的文化失損現(xiàn)象及其產(chǎn)生的原因,望能引發(fā)更多對(duì)文化專有項(xiàng)的翻譯研究與實(shí)踐的思考。
