【摘要】：本文是以布迪厄社會學(xué)場域—慣習(xí)為理論框架,對《邊城》英譯本—戴乃迭1962年版譯本進(jìn)行的個案研究。場域即界定為中國現(xiàn)當(dāng)代小說英譯,戴乃迭的翻譯慣習(xí)則體現(xiàn)為翻譯思想、譯本選擇和翻譯策略三個方面。筆者結(jié)合定性研究和個案研究方法,通過對其慣習(xí)影響的源頭,即人生軌跡的梳理,對戴乃迭的翻譯思想、譯本選擇和翻譯策略進(jìn)行描述。并將譯者置于中國現(xiàn)當(dāng)代小說英譯這一場域之中,描述該場域中主要的參與者,即贊助人和讀者對其慣習(xí)形成的影響�；趯υ撟g本的分析,本文研究發(fā)現(xiàn)：第一,譯者戴乃迭翻譯慣習(xí)方面。其慣習(xí)影響的源頭—人生軌跡方面,其特殊的家庭背景,跨國婚戀和學(xué)術(shù)生涯促使譯者在翻譯中偏愛選擇中國現(xiàn)當(dāng)代文學(xué)作品。譯者戴乃迭的翻譯思想體現(xiàn)在忠實(shí)文本原則和讀者可接受性原則的統(tǒng)一。在翻譯策略方面,譯者采取異化為主歸化為輔的翻譯策略。第二,場域?qū)Υ髂说g慣習(xí)的影響。中國現(xiàn)當(dāng)代小說翻譯場域中主導(dǎo)力量在1960-1978年間為中國政府,這一時期在中國政府這一政治力量的影響下,戴乃迭選擇《邊城》這一文化氣息濃厚的沈從文代表作品進(jìn)行翻譯。同時場域內(nèi)的主要參與者即贊助人和讀者影響譯者的文本選擇,翻譯思想及翻譯策略的形成。本文通過以上研究驗(yàn)證了慣習(xí)和場域理論對于《邊城》英譯本進(jìn)行個案研究的適用性。譯者翻譯慣習(xí)的形成和場域密不可分,場域內(nèi)的主導(dǎo)力量影響著譯者的慣習(xí),同時場域內(nèi)主要參與者即贊助人和讀者影響著譯者慣習(xí)的形成。另外,本研究從宏觀的角度描述性的闡述了戴乃迭不同時期的翻譯活動和譯本選擇,可作為譯者翻譯史料研究的一部分。
