接受理論視角下《還鄉(xiāng)》三譯本的對比研究

【摘要】:《還鄉(xiāng)》是英國杰出的現(xiàn)實主義作家托馬斯·哈代的代表作之一。該小說中譯本自20世紀30年代被介紹到中國以來,對中國社會產(chǎn)生了廣泛的影響。本文作者試圖從接受理論視角對《還鄉(xiāng)》三個中譯本進行研究。接受理論產(chǎn)生于20世紀六十年代的德國,它強調(diào)讀者在文本中的能動作用,為翻譯研究提供了新的視角。接受理論兩個重要的概念為讀者的期待視野和文本意義的未定點。應(yīng)用在文學(xué)翻譯中,譯者首先是原文本的讀者,譯者不同的期待視野使得對原文的不同理解和闡釋;同時,考慮到讀者的語言期待和對外來文化的接受水平等因素,譯者又需選擇恰當?shù)姆g策略,以達到譯文與讀者的期待視野相融合。此外,文學(xué)文本在創(chuàng)作完成之后,還存在很多意義的空白,只有通過讀者的積極參與,文本的意義和價值才能實現(xiàn)。由于譯者不同的知識結(jié)構(gòu)影響,對于原文的未定點的意義具體化有不同填充,從而產(chǎn)生不同的譯本。本文以哈代《還鄉(xiāng)》三個中譯本(分別為張谷若1935年譯本,王守仁1997年譯本,王之光2006年譯本)為研究對象,運用接受理論,分別從譯者和讀者的期待視野及意義未定點的具體化對比分析三部譯作。通過比較,可看出譯本差異的背后,主要受制于不同時期譯者和讀者的期待視野,即三譯者所處的不同的時代文化背景,不同的語言風(fēng)格。同時由于文本本身意義的不確定性,作者分別從詞匯、修辭和文化層面比較分析了三譯本。本論文不僅證明了接受理論對翻譯研究的可行性,也從一定程度解釋了名著重譯的必要性。隨著時代發(fā)展和語言變化,舊譯本難以迎合新時期讀者的閱讀需要,適應(yīng)不同時代讀者需要的譯本出現(xiàn)是必要且進步的。本論文對文學(xué)作品翻譯有一定啟示意義,因此具有較強的理論和實踐意義。
[Abstract]:Returning Home is one of the masterpieces of Thomas Hardy, an outstanding realistic writer in England. The Chinese version of the novel has had a wide influence on Chinese society since it was introduced to China in the 1930s. The author attempts to study the three Chinese versions of returning to Home from the perspective of reception theory. The reception theory, which originated in Germany in the 1960s, emphasizes the dynamic role of the reader in the text and provides a new perspective for translation studies. The two important concepts of reception theory are the undecided point of the reader's expectation and the meaning of the text. In literary translation, the translator is first of all the reader of the original text, and the translator's different vision of expectation leads to different understanding and interpretation of the original text. At the same time, in view of the readers' language expectations and the level of acceptance of foreign cultures, the translator should choose appropriate translation strategies in order to achieve the integration of the target text and the reader's horizon of expectation. In addition, after the creation of literary texts, there are still many gaps in meaning, only through the active participation of readers, the meaning and value of the text can be realized. Due to the influence of the translator's different knowledge structure, the meaning of the undefined point of the original text is filled with different meanings, resulting in different versions. In this paper, three Chinese versions of Hardy's returning Home (Zhang Gurou 1935, Wang Shouren's 1997, Wang Zhiguang's 2006 translation) are taken as the research object, and the reception theory is used. This paper analyzes the three translations from the perspective of the translator and the reader. Through comparison, we can see that the translation differences are mainly restricted by the expectations of the translators and readers in different periods, that is, the different cultural backgrounds and different language styles of the three translators. At the same time, due to the uncertainty of the meaning of the text itself, the author compares and analyzes the three versions from the lexical, rhetorical and cultural levels. This thesis not only proves the feasibility of reception theory in translation studies, but also explains to some extent the necessity of noun translation. With the development of the times and language changes, it is difficult for the old versions to meet the reading needs of the readers in the new period, and it is necessary and progressive to meet the needs of the readers of different times. This thesis is of great theoretical and practical significance for literary translation.
