【摘要】：在萊考夫和約翰遜的概念隱喻理論框架下，本論文對《紅樓夢》中的所有“紅”隱喻及其英譯策略展開了較為全面的研究，旨在探尋其隱喻意義、目標(biāo)域以及兩英譯本中譯者對其所采用的翻譯策略。 研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，《紅樓夢》中的“紅”隱喻根據(jù)其隱喻意義被投射到不同的目標(biāo)域：人類、事物、情感、心情、狀態(tài)、地位/階級、身體狀況等。由于英漢文化對顏色“紅”持有諸多不同的認(rèn)知觀，兩英譯本對“紅”隱喻的翻譯所采取的策略差異頗大。霍克斯著眼于譯文讀者文化，傾向于用西方讀者所熟知的隱喻代替源語中的“紅”隱喻，將其英譯為具有相同隱喻意義的不同隱喻；或是直接將“紅”這一意象省略，只譯出其隱喻意義。然而，，楊氏夫婦以源語文化為歸宿，通過竭力保留原著的文化藝術(shù)價值來弘揚(yáng)中國文化。他們盡可能地在其英譯本中再現(xiàn)“紅”隱喻。 總之，本課題是對《紅樓夢》中的“紅”隱喻及其英譯策略的一次嘗試性研究，為《紅樓夢》乃至其他文學(xué)作品中的顏色隱喻及其翻譯研究提供了一定的理論和實(shí)踐上的指導(dǎo)，同時有助于英美讀者更好地理解中國文學(xué)作品中顏色隱喻的英譯并且有望推動根植于中華民族的“紅”文化的傳播。
