以《華夏集》英譯為例看龐德對中國詩歌的誤讀與創(chuàng)新

艾茲拉·龐德是意象派詩歌的創(chuàng)始人之一。1925年,龐德出版了漢詩譯作《華夏集》,把歐美現(xiàn)代詩歌接受中國古典詩歌的影響提到了歷史的高度。在東西方文化的交流過程中,異文化之間的誤讀現(xiàn)象總是不可避免的存在著;然而龐德,一改當時盛行的維多利亞詩歌風格,用中國古典詩歌這一截然不同的文學形式與死板只重主觀表達的維多利亞詩歌對抗,達到了創(chuàng)新美國詩歌的效果,讓讀者耳目一新。 本文旨在用《華夏集》來反映龐德的翻譯思想及探究其思想淵源!度A夏集》擁有特殊的翻譯媒介,翻譯方法和深遠的影響,很好的闡釋了譯者對原文的理解與闡釋不是簡單的復制原文意思,而是要有所創(chuàng)造。本文會以《華夏集》為例,從文體風格,語言及語法,和韻律等方面入手,來分析龐德的誤讀和創(chuàng)新。此外,文章還分析了文化誤讀出現(xiàn)的偶然性和必然性,即有意識誤讀和無意識誤讀,進一步加深對龐德翻譯思想的了解。 在對中國古典詩歌的翻譯中,龐德所運用的創(chuàng)意翻譯法受到了國內外譯評界褒貶不一的評論,但我們應該辯證對待。一方面龐德的《華夏集》推動了美國新詩運動的發(fā)展,極大的促進了西方世界對中國詩歌及中國文化的了解,另一方面誤讀和誤譯不利于跨文化的交流,甚至對源語國家的政治、經濟、文化和意識形態(tài)造成不必要的混亂,中西翻譯文化史都證明了這一點,這些對讀者正確理解異質文化產生負面影響?偟膩碚f,龐德對中國詩歌的翻譯利弊皆有,但他的創(chuàng)意性要高于他的誤讀效應。
