【摘要】：正大都會藝術(shù)博物館(The Metropolitan Museum of Art)由一群包括商人、律師、藝術(shù)家以及幾位紐約市政官員在內(nèi)的普通公民組織籌建,于1870年正式成立,是美國首批藝術(shù)博物館之一。成立之初,創(chuàng)始人主張將這座新機構(gòu)定位為主要展現(xiàn)藝術(shù)美、提供藝術(shù)教育和道德熏陶的場所。博物館最初的館址位于第五大道下街的一幢小樓,其第一件藏品是購入的3世紀(jì)的一副羅馬石棺。
[Abstract]:Founded in 1870 by a group of ordinary citizens, including businessmen, lawyers, artists and several New York city officials, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Metropolitan Museum of Art) was one of the first art museums in the United States. At the beginning of its founding, the founder advocated that the new institution should be positioned as a place to display artistic beauty and provide artistic education and moral edification. The museum was originally located in a small building on Fifth Avenue Lower Street. Its first collection was a third-century Roman sarcophagus.
