從順應論的角度分析《紅樓夢》中服飾詞語的翻譯

【摘要】:《紅樓夢》因其永恒的魅力,深得國內(nèi)外學者垂青。這部古典名著從問世之日起,就被譯成至少一百多種文字。從1830年到1990年間,就有十種譯本產(chǎn)生,其中八種為節(jié)譯本,兩種為全譯本。本文選用的兩個譯本分別為戴維·霍克斯和約翰·閔福德的譯本(前八十回由戴維·霍克斯翻譯,后四十回由約翰·閔福德翻譯)和楊憲益戴乃迭伉儷的譯本。 順應理論在二十世紀八十年代產(chǎn)生,由許多學者在研究中對其進行過改進。該理論為翻譯理論與實踐研究開辟了新的天地。本文從順應理論出發(fā),,對戴維·霍克斯和楊憲益戴乃迭兩個英譯版本的前80章人物服飾的翻譯進行了分析。通過研究得出了以下三點發(fā)現(xiàn): 1.通過兩種英譯本的對比,筆者發(fā)現(xiàn),服飾詞語的翻譯可以通過順應論的四個維度:語境關系順應,結(jié)構(gòu)順應,動態(tài)順應及順應的意識程度來解釋。 2.通過語境關系順應的社會世界和心理世界分析得出,服飾詞語的翻譯可以順應于歷史視角、文化視角、認知視角和審美視角方面。 3.通過對比人物服飾的翻譯研究,服飾詞語的翻譯也可以順應于結(jié)構(gòu)層次方面,主要表現(xiàn)在名詞、形容詞和修辭特征方面。 通過對比兩種英譯本,筆者發(fā)現(xiàn)順應理論在中國文化術語尤其是服飾詞翻譯中的應用,同時指出文章的一些不足和建議?傊,文章力圖對服飾詞的翻譯進行討論,為順應論的研究提供了一個全新的視角。
[Abstract]:The Dream of Red Mansions, because of its eternal charm, has been favored by scholars both at home and abroad. The classic has been translated into at least a hundred languages since its inception. From 1830 to 1990, ten translations were produced, of which eight were excerpts and two were full translations. The two versions chosen in this thesis are those of David Hawkes and John Minford (the first eighty were translated by David Hawkes and the last forty by John Minford) and by Yang Xianyi and his wife. Adaptation theory came into being in 1980's, which has been improved by many scholars. This theory has opened up a new world for the study of translation theory and practice. Based on the adaptation theory, this paper analyzes the translation of the first 80 characters' clothing in the two English versions of David Hawkes and Yang Xianyi Dai Nai-di. Through the study, the following three findings have been drawn: 1. Through the comparison between the two English versions, the author finds that the translation of dress words can be explained through the four dimensions of adaptation theory: contextual adaptation, structural adaptation, dynamic adaptation and the degree of consciousness of adaptation. 2. Through the analysis of the social world and psychological world of contextual adaptation, it is concluded that the translation of dress words can be adapted to historical, cultural, cognitive and aesthetic perspectives. 3. Through the contrastive study of clothing translation of characters, the translation of dress words can also be adapted to the structural level, mainly in the aspects of nouns, adjectives and rhetorical features. By comparing the two English versions, the author finds the application of adaptation theory in the translation of Chinese cultural terms, especially appellants, and points out some shortcomings and suggestions in this paper. In a word, this paper tries to discuss the translation of dress words, which provides a new perspective for the study of adaptation theory.
