[Abstract]:This paper attempts to explore the changes and significance of the relationship between literature and film in the present context of visual culture. Many signs have shown that visual culture has become the dominant cultural form. The spread and exchange of human culture has promoted the development of the media and thus accelerated the arrival of visual culture; the modern world concept has provided the necessary ideological basis for the formation of visual culture; finally, with consumerism, The aesthetic generalization of visual culture, which is inextricably linked, has replaced language as the dominant cultural form. With the formation of new cultural context, literature and film have changed. Film has become a strong party, relying on its media advantages to attract the public from reading to watching, literary adaptation of a large number of films also become evidence of the rise of visual culture. But the film inevitably has to fall into an awkward situation: lifelike is not only the unique charm of the film, but also the key point for audience to confuse the real and false, the reality is illusory. On the other hand, literature makes up for this shortcoming of film and has special significance in the present visual culture because of its alienation from reality. But at the same time, literature is inevitably impacted by visual culture, including film. In short, the relationship between the two in the present become more complex.
