改寫理論視角下《阿Q正傳》四種英譯本比較研究

【摘要】:學(xué)術(shù)界對《阿Q正傳》的研究一直比較熱門,對其英譯本的研究也不在少數(shù)。但是,,前人研究主要集中在對單個譯本中的某一方面或兩個譯本的直接對比,研究視角往往比較局限。傳統(tǒng)譯學(xué)往往僅把翻譯看作是從一種文字到另一種文字的純語言轉(zhuǎn)換,直到近年來才逐步跳出語言學(xué)的范疇,開始將重點轉(zhuǎn)向文化等領(lǐng)域。本文以勒菲弗爾的改寫理論為理論框架,對《阿Q正傳》的四個英譯本展開深入對比研究。除引言和結(jié)語部分外,本文可分為三章。第一章對《阿Q正傳》及英譯本的研究現(xiàn)狀進行了梳理;第二章對改寫理論進行概述,并介紹了“文化轉(zhuǎn)向”、“操縱學(xué)派”以及改寫理論的三要素;第三章為論文的主體,結(jié)合改寫理論,利用大量例子并輔以圖表,從意識形態(tài)、詩學(xué)和贊助人三方面對《阿Q正傳》四個英譯本進行了對比研究。最后,本文作者得出結(jié)論:四個譯本各有千秋,不應(yīng)籠統(tǒng)地認為孰好孰壞,而應(yīng)把他們放到具體的經(jīng)濟、文化、社會、政治等時代背景加以考察研究。 通過比較四個英譯本,筆者發(fā)現(xiàn)意識形態(tài)、詩學(xué)、贊助人等改寫理論三要素在各個譯本中都留有深刻烙印,并且對其翻譯策略的選擇有較大影響,這些影響中尤以意識形態(tài)最大。在George Kin Leung譯本中,譯者考慮到封建意識形態(tài)在文學(xué)中依然殘留,而且其本人深受五四及新文化運動后以直譯為主的翻譯風(fēng)尚影響,為了在傳播中國文化時保留特色,譯本不可避免地以異化譯法為主。同樣地,在楊氏夫婦譯本中,社會主義和共產(chǎn)主義的意識形態(tài)主導(dǎo)著他們的翻譯策略,在這種特定的政治條件下,忠實的譯文或者異化法是政府所期望的。Lyell和Chi-chen Wang兩譯本主要受詩學(xué)影響,風(fēng)格類似,譯文都采用通俗的美式口語形式,且均以歸化譯法為主,使譯文符合美國讀者口味,因而較受歡迎。當(dāng)然,這些譯本或多或少都有出版社等贊助人的影子。 本文在描述意識形態(tài)對翻譯影響時,根據(jù)奈達對文化的五種分類,重點分析了不同譯本中幾種文化負載詞的不同譯法;在描述詩學(xué)時,主要從詞匯和句法兩個層面著手,其中詞匯層面描述時采用AntConc軟件對詞頻做出計算,旨在分析譯者的用詞傾向;在句法層面上,使用了Wordsmith軟件對句數(shù)、平均句長等進行統(tǒng)計,據(jù)此推斷譯者在語言風(fēng)格方面使用的特點及其原因。通過對比《阿Q正傳》四個英譯本,本文試圖分析研究不同譯本出現(xiàn)的原因,即各自所受到的意識形態(tài)、詩學(xué)和贊助人等方面的影響有何不同,從而更好地推進《阿Q正傳》英譯及類似研究。
[Abstract]:The academic research on the True Story of Ah Q has always been popular, and the English translation is not few. However, previous studies mainly focus on the direct comparison of one aspect or two versions of a single translation, and the perspective of the study is often limited. Traditional translatology only regards translation as a pure language transformation from one text to another. It is only in recent years that translation has gradually jumped out of the scope of linguistics and started to focus on culture and other fields. Taking Lefevere's rewriting theory as the theoretical framework, this paper makes an in-depth comparative study of the four English versions of the True Story of Ah Q. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this article can be divided into three chapters. Chapter one summarizes the theory of rewriting, and introduces the three elements of "cultural turn", "manipulation school" and rewriting theory. The third chapter is the main body of the thesis. Combined with rewriting theory, this paper makes a comparative study of the four English versions of the True Story of Ah Q from three aspects: ideology, poetics and patronage, using a large number of examples and graphs. Finally, the author comes to the conclusion that the four versions have their own merits, so they should not be generally considered as good or bad, but should be studied against the background of specific economic, cultural, social, political and other times. By comparing the four English versions, the author finds that the three elements of rewriting theory, such as ideology, poetics and patronage, are deeply imprinted in each translation and have a great influence on the choice of translation strategies. Of all these influences, ideology is the greatest. In the translation of George Kin Leung, the translator takes into account that feudal ideology still remains in literature, and that he is deeply influenced by the tradition of literal translation after the May 4th Movement and the New Culture Movement, in order to preserve his characteristics in the dissemination of Chinese culture. The translation inevitably focuses on dissimilation. Similarly, in the Young couple's translation, the ideology of socialism and communism dominates their translation strategies, and in this particular political context, Faithful translation or dissimilation is expected by the government. Lyell and Chi-chen Wang are mainly influenced by poetics and have similar style. Both of them adopt popular American colloquial forms and are mainly translated by domestication, so that the translation conforms to the taste of American readers. So it's more popular. Of course, these translations have more or less the shadow of sponsors such as publishers. In describing the influence of ideology on translation, this paper focuses on analyzing the different translation methods of several culture-loaded words in different versions according to Nida's five classifications of culture, and describes poetics mainly from the lexical and syntactic levels. In the lexical level, AntConc software is used to calculate the frequency of words in order to analyze the translator's tendency to use words. At the syntactic level, Wordsmith software is used to calculate the number of sentences, the average length of sentences and so on. The characteristics and reasons of the translator's use of language style are inferred. By comparing the four English versions of "the True Story of Ah Q", this paper attempts to analyze the reasons for the emergence of different versions, that is, the different influences on ideology, poetics and patronage. In order to better promote the "A Q" translation and similar research.
