從主述位理論看莎士比亞十四行詩翻譯

【摘要】:系統(tǒng)功能語法創(chuàng)始人韓禮德提出語言的基本意義成分是功能成分,功能又可分為三種:概念功能,人際功能和語篇功能。在翻譯實踐和研究中,人們更多地關(guān)注了語言的概念功能和人際功能,即在翻譯中更多地著手于字、詞、句層面的對等,而忽略了語言語篇功能在篇章構(gòu)造和銜接中的作用。主述位理論作為語篇分析的一個重要手段,使得譯者能夠清晰地把握原文的整體脈絡(luò),從而在譯文中精確再現(xiàn)作者的謀篇布局,讓讀者更為全面深入地領(lǐng)悟原作精髓。 詩歌翻譯一直是翻譯界的一個難題,因其語言的凝練性以及表意的含蓄性,單純的語義對等很難全面形象地傳遞詩歌精髓,尤其是對于注重形合的英文詩歌更是如此。本文以莎士比亞十四行詩翻譯作為研究對象,選取著名翻譯家辜正坤和梁宗岱的譯文,在主述位理論的指導(dǎo)下,從主述位結(jié)構(gòu)和主述位推進模式兩個角度對莎士比亞十四行詩原作及其兩個中譯本進行對比研究,認為主述位理論關(guān)照下的翻譯是交際功能導(dǎo)向的,翻譯的對象是動態(tài)的信息流,而不是以固定的字詞句為中心,從而突顯了翻譯的交際功能。依據(jù)主述位理論,從翻譯的交際功能出發(fā),研究者可以從信息流對等角度對譯文進行評價研究,證實了該理論對英漢詩歌翻譯批評研究有指導(dǎo)性意義。同時本文通過對原作和兩個中譯本的大量對比研究,從主述位結(jié)構(gòu)和主位推進模式的翻譯入手,給出了一些相應(yīng)的翻譯建議,,指出在英漢翻譯中,譯者應(yīng)該有意識地將英語主語主位轉(zhuǎn)換成中文話題主位,同時重視標記主位在譯文中的轉(zhuǎn)換。為了再現(xiàn)作者的謀篇布局和交際意圖,譯者應(yīng)盡量再現(xiàn)原文主位推進模式,但不可過分拘泥,在無法精確再現(xiàn)原文主位推進模式的情況下,應(yīng)以目標語的表達習(xí)慣為依據(jù),在譯文中構(gòu)建新的主位推進模式。
[Abstract]:Halliday, the founder of systemic functional Grammar, put forward that the basic meaning of language is functional component, which can be divided into three categories: conceptual function, interpersonal function and textual function.In translation practice and research, more attention has been paid to the conceptual and interpersonal functions of language, that is to say, more attention has been paid to the equivalence of words, words and sentences in translation, while the role of language text function in text construction and cohesion has been neglected.As an important means of discourse analysis, the Theme-Rheme Theory enables the translator to clearly grasp the overall context of the original text, thus accurately reproducing the author's layout in the target text, so that the reader can fully and deeply understand the essence of the original text.Poetry translation has always been a difficult problem in the field of translation. Because of its conciseness of language and implicature of ideographic meaning, it is very difficult to convey the essence of poetry by pure semantic equivalence, especially for English poems which focus on hypotaxis.Taking Shakespeare's sonnet translation as the object of study, this paper selects the translations of famous translators Gu Zhengkun and Liang Zongdai under the guidance of thematic and rheme theory.A comparative study of Shakespeare's sonnet and its two Chinese versions is made from the perspectives of thematic structure and thematic progression model. It is considered that the translation under the care of thematic and rheme theory is communicative functional.The object of translation is the dynamic information flow, rather than the fixed word and sentence as the center, thus highlighting the communicative function of translation.According to the theory of theme and rheme, from the communicative function of translation, the researcher can evaluate the translation from the angle of information flow equivalence, which proves that this theory is of guiding significance to the study of translation criticism in English and Chinese poetry.At the same time, through a large number of contrastive studies on the original works and the two Chinese versions, this paper begins with the translation of the thematic structure and thematic progression model, and gives some corresponding translation suggestions, pointing out that in English and Chinese translation, some suggestions are given.The translator should consciously transform the subject theme of English into a Chinese topic theme, and attach importance to the conversion of the marked theme in the target text.In order to reproduce the author's layout and communicative intention, the translator should try his best to reproduce the thematic progression model of the original text, but he should not be too rigid. If he cannot accurately reproduce the original theme progression model, he should base on the target language expression habit.A new thematic progression model is constructed in the translation.
