Mural paintings refer to all kinds of paintings drawn on the walls inside and outside buildings, and all kinds of wall decoration in a narrow sense. So what is the relationship between modern wall painting art and traditional murals? The development course of Chinese traditional murals mainly experienced four periods: 1, preparation-primitive society period; 2, germinating-slave society period; 3, prosperity-feudal society period; 4, decline-modern society period. The development level of murals in modern China has lagged behind that of the West, until after the reform and opening up, the contemporary mural art in China began to flourish. Chinese and Western traditional murals are different in geographical environment, climate, hydrology, ethnic composition, religious belief, social ideology and human development process, which lead to their traditional murals' material and function. Since the Industrial Revolution, the West has rapidly entered the industrial society, science and technology and social productive forces have been unprecedented development, affecting all aspects of social life. Painting art benefits from the development of painting materials, the improvement of tools and the new discovery of painting theory. As a result, the development of modern painting art has given Chinese traditional murals an unprecedented impact, which is mainly reflected in the two aspects of painting materials and aesthetic images. As a result, there are serious consequences (resulting in traditional loss and blindness) and new development opportunities. There are two sides to the development of everything. We should welcome the impact of modern painting art on Chinese traditional murals, seize the opportunity and seek for development. The modern wall painting art inherits and develops some essence of Chinese traditional mural painting, which makes the wall painting art more colorful in composition form and more handy in the application of complex and simple comparison. Wall painting techniques and techniques, symbols and language is a new breakthrough. In the aspect of style and form of wall painting, from closed style to open gradually, its decorative style form has also experienced the cycle from line drawing to painting and then to line drawing. In short, each stage of the development of wall painting is more or less affected by the traditional murals. The main purpose of this paper is to find out some connections through this influence to better guide its development.
