[Abstract]:The importance of grammatical metaphor is increasingly recognized both for systemic functional linguistics and for metaphor research. Grammatical metaphor is an important phenomenon in scientific and technological discourse. this theory was put forward by Halliday, a systematic functional linguist, in his book introduction to functional Grammar in 1985. It refers to the metaphorization of language expression. It expounds the grammatical function of expressing a proposition in many ways. Grammatical metaphor has the functions of concise expression, objective and condensed information. Grammatical metaphor is embodied in science and technology discourse as nominalization and verb, and the application of nominalization and verb makes science and technology discourse have strong logic, but also very persuasive, and has a good cognitive effect, so this theory has been paid more and more attention by the academic circles at home and abroad. According to the three pure functions of language, language metaphor is initially divided into three types: conceptual grammatical metaphor, interpersonal grammatical metaphor and textual grammatical metaphor. In order to perfect this theory, Halliday put forward the concept of grammatical metaphor syndrome, and on this basis, he put forward 13 types of grammatical metaphor. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the important role of grammatical metaphor in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses, so as to better complete the transformation of grammatical metaphors in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses. This paper first introduces the purpose and significance of the study, the research methods and the structure of this paper; secondly, it reviews the development of grammatical metaphor theory at home and abroad in the past 20 years, with emphasis on Halliday's contribution to grammatical metaphor theory; thirdly, this paper expounds the linguistic characteristics of scientific and technological discourse, such as simplicity, objectivity and high information density, and the intervention of grammatical metaphor is helpful to realize these characteristics. Then it introduces the collection methods, analysis process and statistical results of corpus. The analysis shows that grammatical metaphors exist in a large number of English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses, and the forms are almost the same. On this basis, this paper puts forward the function of grammatical metaphor in the text, and puts forward the docking between the consistent form in Chinese and the metaphorical form in English, with emphasis on nominalization and verb transformation at the same level and upgrading transformation. Finally, the research results of this paper are summarized. Based on the theoretical framework of grammatical metaphor, this paper makes a contrastive analysis of the similarities and differences between 13 types of grammatical metaphor in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses, in order to propose effective ways to complete the transformation of grammatical metaphors in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses. This paper focuses on two important forms of grammatical metaphor in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourses, that is, the transformation of nominalization and verb. Although this paper has contributed little to the systematic study of grammatical metaphor, the author hopes that this paper will play a guiding role in the specific forms and functions of grammatical metaphor in scientific and technological discourse and the cross-cultural communication between English and Chinese scientific and technological discourse, and will also have guiding significance for the transformation of grammatical metaphor in English and Chinese scientific and technological discourse to a certain extent. However, other expressions of grammatical metaphor in science and technology discourse and other countermeasures for the transformation of grammatical metaphor in English and Chinese science and technology discourses need to be further studied in the future.
