文化空白的異化翻譯策略

【摘要】:語言是文化的一部分同時也是文化的載體,語言和文化是相互依存的。翻譯不僅僅是兩種語言之間的對話同時也是兩種文化的對話。由于社會和自然因素,每個國家的文化都有其獨特的特點。文化的共通性使不同語言間的轉(zhuǎn)換得以實現(xiàn),但是文化的多樣性卻導(dǎo)致了文化空白的產(chǎn)生。因此在翻譯的過程中,一些對原語讀者來說顯而易見的文化信息很難被目標語讀者所理解。因為在目標語中沒有與原語完全對等的詞語,他們很難轉(zhuǎn)化到目的語中,這就出現(xiàn)了俄國翻譯理論家I.Q.索羅金所定義的文化空白。 回顧中西方翻譯歷史,歸化翻譯一直處于主流地位,大多數(shù)譯者在翻譯文化空白時都采用歸化的翻譯策略,沒有保留原語語言文化特點。韋努蒂在1995年出版的《譯者的隱身:一部翻譯史》一書中提出了異化理論,號召譯者要突破目的語常規(guī),保留原文中的異國情調(diào)。他認為在當今處于霸權(quán)地位的英美語言文化的環(huán)境中,異化翻譯可以成為抵御文化霸權(quán)主義和種族主義的一種形式。他試圖采用抵抗式翻譯抵抗傳統(tǒng)歸化翻譯,保留原文的文化意象,產(chǎn)生陌生化的譯本,從而實現(xiàn)譯者顯身,推翻英語國家的文化霸權(quán)。 本文在韋努蒂的翻譯理論的基礎(chǔ)上,歸納了解決翻譯中文化空白的四種具體方法,即直譯、直譯加注釋、音譯和音譯加注釋。從《傾城之戀》,《牡丹亭》,《圍城》等中國經(jīng)典文學(xué)著作選取了大量有關(guān)文化空白的例子對文化空白的異化翻譯策略進行分析,通過使用大量的諺語、成語以及具有中國特色的詞語嘗試異化譯法。 總體來說,翻譯文化空白時采取的異化策略滿足了讀者的閱讀期待,并保留和傳播原語文化特色,促進民族間的文化交流。
[Abstract]:Language is not only a part of culture but also a carrier of culture. Language and culture are interdependent. Translation is not only a dialogue between two languages, but also a dialogue between two cultures. Because of social and natural factors, each country's culture has its own unique characteristics. The commonality of culture makes the conversion between different languages come true, but the diversity of culture leads to the creation of cultural blanks. Therefore, in the process of translation, it is difficult for the target language readers to understand some obvious cultural information. Because there are no words that are completely equivalent to the original language in the target language, it is difficult for them to be translated into the target language, which leads to the emergence of Russian translation theorist I. Q. Cultural blanks as defined by Sorokin. Looking back at the history of translation between China and the West, domestication translation has always been in the mainstream position. Most translators adopt domestication translation strategies when translating cultural blank, and do not retain the cultural characteristics of the source language. In his 1995 book "the Invisibility of the translator: a History of Translation", Weinuti put forward the theory of alienation, calling on the translator to break through the target language convention and retain the exotic tone in the original text. He believes that alienation translation can become a form of resisting cultural hegemonism and racism in the environment of British and American language and culture which is now in a hegemonic position. He tries to use resistance translation to resist the traditional domestication translation, to retain the cultural image of the original text, to produce a strange translation, so as to realize the translator's prominence and overthrow the cultural hegemony of the English-speaking countries. On the basis of Weinuti's translation theory, this paper sums up four concrete ways to solve the cultural blanks in translation, namely literal translation, literal translation plus annotation, transliteration and transliteration plus annotation. This paper analyzes the alienation translation strategies of cultural blanks through selecting a large number of examples of cultural blanks from the Chinese classical literature works such as Love of Qing City, Peony Pavilion, besieged City, and so on. Through the use of a large number of proverbs, this paper analyzes the translation strategies of cultural blanks. Idioms and words with Chinese characteristics try to dissimilate translation. In general, the dissimilation strategy adopted in the translation culture blank satisfies the readers' reading expectations, preserves and disseminates the cultural characteristics of the original language, and promotes the cultural exchange among nationalities.
