【摘要】：英語現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時動態(tài)變化間的關(guān)系一直是英語時體研究領(lǐng)域中一個重要卻又很令人困惑的話題,這兩個結(jié)構(gòu)都與過去時間指代相關(guān)聯(lián),而且在許多英語變體中,兩者之間的界限并不分明。有些之前往往和一般過去時連用的語境,如vesterday,或者習(xí)慣和現(xiàn)在完成時連用的語境,如since,都出現(xiàn)了與對方連用的情況,甚至越來越常見。因此有學(xué)者指出,現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時的動態(tài)變化不應(yīng)像之前許多研究那樣分開來獨立研究,而應(yīng)從一個更廣闊的角度,即從兩者之間的競爭關(guān)系來研究。本研究采用目前規(guī)模最大,語域分布最平衡的當(dāng)代美國英語語料庫(The Corpus of Contemporary American English),旨在探究現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時在五個語域(口語、小說、雜志、新聞、學(xué)術(shù))中的動態(tài)變化間的關(guān)系。結(jié)果發(fā)現(xiàn),除了學(xué)術(shù)語域,在其他四個語域和總語料庫里,現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時的動態(tài)變化都有關(guān)聯(lián)——負(fù)相關(guān)(即競爭關(guān)系)或者正相關(guān)。更具體地說,現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時的歷時發(fā)展在總語料庫和口語語域中呈現(xiàn)出競爭關(guān)系,而在小說、雜志、新聞?wù)Z域中呈現(xiàn)出正相關(guān),在學(xué)術(shù)語域中則沒有顯著關(guān)聯(lián)。本文還就兩者之所以會在各語域中呈現(xiàn)出某種變化趨勢和關(guān)系模式進行了嘗試性的解釋。本研究將“語域”這個維度引入到英語時體歷時演變研究體系中去,并采用了相對來說更具說服力的統(tǒng)計方法來呈現(xiàn)出一幅現(xiàn)在完成時和一般過去時在當(dāng)代美國英語中的變化趨勢和關(guān)系模式的全景圖,并綜合分析了促成該全景圖形成的因素。
