【摘要】：索爾·貝婁是美國猶太裔作家,其《拉維爾斯坦》出版于2000年,小說通過齊克的敘述刻畫了大學(xué)教授、學(xué)者及政治哲學(xué)家拉維爾斯坦。他在異國文化中遭遇著被排擠的命運(yùn),在不斷尋找自己的定位的過程中與傳統(tǒng)猶太教文化漸行漸遠(yuǎn),在生命的最后時(shí)刻意識到猶太人一定要回歸猶太教傳統(tǒng)文化。本文運(yùn)用不可靠敘述的理論來解讀《拉維爾斯坦》,加深對美國猶太人的理解。論文主體分為三個(gè)部分。首先,考察了齊克作為人物兼敘述者的功能在文本中的作用。作為人物的齊克,因?yàn)槠湫愿窈偷赖氯毕?使得齊克成為一個(gè)"靠不住"的人。接著,論述了小說中存在人物功能和敘述功能相分離的情況。同時(shí)小說中多次出現(xiàn)有限的人物視角與全知全能的視角之間的轉(zhuǎn)換。這樣的敘述策略使得齊克的敘述在可靠與不可靠間搖擺。其次,本文通過分析齊克的人物功能和敘述功能相分離的不可靠敘述策略,來分析這一敘述策略對拉維爾斯坦的形象的塑造上產(chǎn)生的影響。作為人物的齊克與他是好朋友和同事,齊克欣賞他的在學(xué)術(shù)研究上才華和在政治上的影響力。作為敘述者的齊克避開拉維爾斯坦的正面價(jià)值,刻意夸大拉維爾斯坦的缺點(diǎn)和生活陋習(xí)。齊克的多重功能使得他對拉維爾斯坦的刻畫出現(xiàn)了矛盾。再次,本文通過分析拉維爾斯坦的多重形象來展現(xiàn)美國猶太人的生存狀況,一方面作為美國人,拉維爾斯坦心中深埋猶太文化和傳統(tǒng),不知道如何定位自身的文化定位。另一方面,作為猶太人他深受美國當(dāng)代文化影響,追求享樂和無節(jié)制的消費(fèi)。最后論文得出結(jié)論,主人公拉維爾斯坦在不可靠的敘述下呈現(xiàn)出多重文化困擾的身份認(rèn)同問題,呈現(xiàn)出認(rèn)同的不穩(wěn)定性,從而也體現(xiàn)出了作家自身對這一問題的思考和憂慮。
[Abstract]:Saul Bellow is an American Jewish-American writer whose Laverstein was published in 2000. The novel depicts university professors scholars and political philosophers Ravestan through Zeke's narration. In the process of constantly seeking his own position, he was far away from the traditional Jewish culture and realized that Jews must return to the Jewish traditional culture at the last moment of his life. This paper uses the theory of unreliable narration to interpret Laverstein to deepen the understanding of American Jews. The main body of the thesis is divided into three parts. First of all, it examines the function of Zeke as a character and narrator in the text. As a character, Zeke, because of his character and moral defects, makes Zeke a "unreliable" person. Then, the author discusses the separation of character function and narrative function in the novel. At the same time, there are many times in the novel between the limited character perspective and omniscient angle of view. Such a narrative strategy makes Zeke's narrative swing between reliability and unreliability. Secondly, by analyzing the unreliable narrative strategy in which Zeke's character function and narrative function are separated, this paper analyzes the influence of this narrative strategy on the shaping of Laverstein's image. As a character, Zeke and he are good friends and colleagues, Zick appreciates his academic talent and political influence. As a narrator, Zick avoids the positive value of Laverstein and exaggerates his shortcomings and bad habits. Zeke's multiple functions make his portrayal of Laverstein contradictory. Thirdly, this paper analyzes the multiple images of Laverstein to show the living conditions of American Jews. On the one hand, as an American, Laverstein is deeply embedded in Jewish culture and tradition, and does not know how to locate his own cultural positioning. On the other hand, as a Jew, he was deeply influenced by American contemporary culture, pursuing pleasure and unrestrained consumption. Finally, the thesis draws a conclusion that under the unreliable narration, the protagonist Laverstein presents the identity problem with multiple cultural puzzles and the instability of identity, which also reflects the writer's own thinking and worry about this problem.
