從文化翻譯觀看《西游記》中宗教元素的翻譯

【摘要】:本論文旨在探討《西游記》在漢譯西時(shí)如何處理宗教元素的問(wèn)題。我們以作品的兩個(gè)西班牙語(yǔ)譯本為依據(jù),通過(guò)對(duì)其翻譯進(jìn)行對(duì)比研究,提出相應(yīng)的翻譯原則和翻譯策略,從而能夠有效地傳達(dá)其文化含義來(lái)實(shí)現(xiàn)跨文化交際!段饔斡洝纷鳛橹袊(guó)著名的古典文學(xué)名著,講述了玄奘師徒歷盡千難萬(wàn)險(xiǎn)到西天求取真經(jīng)的故事。內(nèi)容中蘊(yùn)含著豐富而深刻的道教和佛教思想,包括禪詩(shī)、宗教術(shù)語(yǔ)概念、宗教意涵豐富的人物姓名、佛教隱喻等等。因此能否處理好上述內(nèi)容在跨文化背景下的漢西翻譯,很大程度上決定著這部作品的翻譯質(zhì)量。我們假設(shè)翻譯宗教元素時(shí),會(huì)遇到由于宗教傳統(tǒng)不同和文化缺省帶來(lái)的諸多不可譯問(wèn)題,因而采取一些特殊的手段來(lái)應(yīng)對(duì)此類(lèi)不可譯問(wèn)題是必要的并且是可行的。本論文共三章。在第一章,論文選取蘇珊·巴斯奈特的文化翻譯觀作為理論框架。分別從語(yǔ)言和文化的關(guān)系,翻譯對(duì)等和文化的不可譯等角度展開(kāi)論述。與此同時(shí),還介紹了由玄奘提出的"五不翻"理論,用以處理在翻譯佛經(jīng)過(guò)程中遇到的不可譯情況。在第二章,本論文闡述了小說(shuō)中宗教元素的主要特點(diǎn)和其相應(yīng)的翻譯策略。特點(diǎn)如下:作品中蘊(yùn)含的宗教哲學(xué)思想與作品主旨密切關(guān)聯(lián),對(duì)宗教文化的理解影響著對(duì)整部作品的理解;作品中的宗教思想通過(guò)隱喻,象征等一系列修辭手法進(jìn)行傳達(dá),在翻譯時(shí)有必要對(duì)其進(jìn)行解釋并予以明示,才能夠使目的語(yǔ)境下的讀者理解作者的巧妙構(gòu)思和文本的宗教意涵;作品中大量的宗教元素系原文化特有的意像,宗教文化缺省要求譯者運(yùn)用到多種補(bǔ)償手段,確保傳遞信息不失真;宗教本身的特殊性和專(zhuān)業(yè)性,要求我們?cè)诜g宗教概念或者經(jīng)文文本時(shí)嚴(yán)格遵照其原意,不能過(guò)分意譯。在第三章,本論文通過(guò)對(duì)具體實(shí)例的分析,提出在翻譯宗教元素中的一些實(shí)用可行的辦法策略。在該章的第一節(jié),我們分析了專(zhuān)有名詞的翻譯,包括人物姓名和宗教術(shù)語(yǔ)。這一部分從人物法名翻譯、人物別號(hào)翻譯和宗教神yG姓名翻譯三個(gè)角度進(jìn)行分析,總結(jié)了西文譯本對(duì)這三類(lèi)名號(hào)不同的翻譯處理手段。在第二節(jié),根據(jù)佛經(jīng)的特點(diǎn),我們對(duì)作品中《心經(jīng)》原文和在小說(shuō)中的寓指進(jìn)行了分析,并結(jié)合玄奘的理論對(duì)遇到的不可譯問(wèn)題進(jìn)行了處理以實(shí)現(xiàn)文化功能對(duì)等。
[Abstract]:The purpose of this thesis is to explore how to deal with religious elements in the translation of Chinese and Western. On the basis of the two Spanish versions of the works, we put forward the corresponding translation principles and translation strategies through a comparative study of their translation. Thus, it can effectively convey its cultural meaning to achieve cross-cultural communication. As a famous classical literary masterpiece in China, Xuanzang tells the story of Xuanzang's master and disciples who went to the West to seek truth through thousands of dangers. It contains rich and profound Taoist and Buddhist thoughts, including Zen poems, religious terminology, names of characters with rich religious connotations, Buddhist metaphors and so on. Therefore, whether or not the above content can be properly handled in the cross-cultural context determines the translation quality of this work to a great extent. We assume that the translation of religious elements will encounter many untranslatable problems caused by different religious traditions and cultural defaults. Therefore, it is necessary and feasible to take some special measures to deal with such untranslatable problems. There are three chapters in this paper. In the first chapter, Susan Bassnett's cultural translation theory is chosen as the theoretical framework. It discusses the relationship between language and culture, translation equivalence and cultural untranslatability. At the same time, it introduces Xuanzang's "five No turning" theory, which is used to deal with the untranslatable situation encountered in the process of translating Buddhist scriptures. In the second chapter, the thesis expounds the main features of religious elements and the corresponding translation strategies. The characteristics are as follows: the religious philosophy contained in the works is closely related to the main idea of the work, the understanding of religious culture affects the understanding of the whole work, and the religious thoughts in the works are conveyed through a series of rhetorical devices, such as metaphor, symbolism, etc. It is necessary to interpret and express it in translation so that readers in the context of purpose can understand the author's ingenious conception and the religious meaning of the text, and a large number of religious elements in the works are unique to the original culture. The default of religious culture requires the translator to apply various compensatory measures to ensure that the transmission of information is not distorted. The particularity and professionalism of religion itself require us to strictly abide by its original meaning when translating religious concepts or texts of scriptures. In the third chapter, through the analysis of concrete examples, this paper puts forward some practical and feasible methods and strategies in the translation of religious elements. In the first section of this chapter, we analyze the translation of proper nouns, including the names of characters and religious terms. This part analyzes the translation of these three names from three angles: the translation of legal names of characters, the translation of characters' names and the translation of the names of religious gods (YG), and summarizes the different translation methods of these three kinds of names in the western versions. In the second section, according to the characteristics of the Buddhist sutras, we analyze the original text and the implication in the novel, and combine Xuanzang's theory to deal with the untranslatable problems in order to realize the cultural functional equivalence.
