晚清出使日記對西學的記載與傳播(1875-1895)

【摘要】:晚清西學東漸在中國由傳統(tǒng)社會轉向近代社會的轉型中發(fā)揮了不可低估的作用。19世紀下半葉,清廷以“熟悉洋務、洞徹邊防”為主要標準選拔了一批駐外公使。晚清駐外公使是近代中國較早走向世界的官員群體,由駐外公使撰寫的出使日記成為晚清西學輸入的途徑之一。駐外公使在向國內輸入西學的過程中,承擔了守門人的角色。他們身處西方,各種信息紛至沓來,令人眼花繚亂。通過權衡各種信息,駐外公使保留其認為重要的西學信息,并將個人思考連同西學信息一并寫入日記,這也意味著出使日記的內容不免存在“失真”現(xiàn)象。出使官員將日記咨送總理衙門后,總理衙門將部分日記刊刻發(fā)行,供高級官員參閱。民間知識分子或將出使日記編入叢書或在報刊上連載,使出使日記的受眾大大增加。面對出使日記中豐富的西學信息,國人對西學信息的選擇與解讀是不同的,這與信息接受者與信息傳播者之間缺乏共同的經歷有關。19世紀60-90年代,西學東漸以教會和官方譯書機構為主導,出使日記在西學東漸過程中的地位逐漸下降,這一方面與社會傳播環(huán)境、日記內容的局限性有關,,另一方面與甲午戰(zhàn)后西學東漸的渠道增加、國人對西學選擇的不同有關。盡管如此,讀者還是能從公使筆下感受到資本主義制度的活力與生機,這對打破國人的自大心理,開闊國人的文化視野有相當積極的意義。
[Abstract]:In the second half of the 19th century, the Qing government selected a number of foreign ministers on the basis of "familiar with foreign affairs and thorough border defense".The foreign minister in the late Qing Dynasty was a group of officials who went to the world earlier in modern China, and the diary of the envoy was one of the ways to input the western learning in the late Qing Dynasty.In the process of importing western learning into the country, the foreign minister assumed the role of gatekeeper.They are in the West, all kinds of information come in, dazzling.By weighing all kinds of information, the foreign minister keeps the western learning information which he thinks is important, and writes the personal thinking with the western learning information in the diary, which also means that the contents of the foreign minister's diary can not avoid the phenomenon of "distortion".Officials sent diaries to the Premier Yamen, who published part of the diary for senior officials to read.Folk intellectuals may send diaries into a series of books or in newspapers and periodicals, so that the audience greatly increased.In the face of the rich western learning information in the diary, Chinese people's choice and interpretation of western learning information is different, which is related to the lack of common experience between the information recipients and the information disseminators in the 1960-90 's of the 19th century.Western learning gradually became dominated by the church and official translation institutions, and the status of diplomatic journals in the process of western-learning eastward gradually declined. On the one hand, it was related to the social communication environment and the limitations of the contents of the diary.On the other hand, it is related to the increasing channels of western learning after the Jiawu war, and the differences in the choice of western learning among Chinese.Nevertheless, readers can still feel the vitality and vitality of the capitalist system from the works of the minister, which is of great significance to break the arrogance of the Chinese people and broaden their cultural horizons.
