[Abstract]:Global ethylene demand is estimated to have reached Mt/a, and is growing at an average annual rate of 5.5 Mt per year, according to IHS Chemical. This means that between 2015 and 2020, the world will need to add 3. 0 to 3. 1 Mt/a of ethylene capacity. In order to meet the demand, 50 new pyrolysis units are needed globally in 2020-2030. India's domestic ethylene derivative supply gap is about 4 Mt/a, India will build one or two new cracking units every 5 years. The rise in raw material prices and the shortage of superior raw materials in the Middle East have slowed the expansion of the region's petrochemical industry
