【摘要】：古代"大學(xué)"概念是對于所有古代高等教育機(jī)構(gòu)及其制度的統(tǒng)稱,并不存在一個冠名為"大學(xué)"的實體機(jī)構(gòu)。明代傳教士艾儒略首次將其作為西語"university"的漢語對譯詞,從此"大學(xué)"概念就開始具有西方"university"的含義,而"university"卻是東方原來沒有的新事物。晚清時期清政府起初興辦的"大學(xué)",無論冠以何種名稱,都是欲仿照西學(xué)體制而建。按照近代"大學(xué)(university)"概念去理解,中國近代第一所大學(xué)應(yīng)該是1895年清廷創(chuàng)辦的北洋大學(xué)堂,但也不能忽視1898年舉辦的京師大學(xué)堂在近代大學(xué)起源期的重要意義。至于教會大學(xué)中最早起始于1882年的登州文會館,由于教育主權(quán)問題,是不能作為中國近代大學(xué)起源來看待的。
[Abstract]:The concept of "university" in ancient times is a general term for all ancient institutions of higher education and its system, and there is no physical institution named "university". The missionary of the Ming Dynasty used it for the first time as a Chinese translation of the western word "university". Since then, the concept of "university" has taken on the meaning of "university" in the West, but "university" is a new thing that the East did not have. In the late Qing Dynasty, the "university" that the Qing government initially set up, no matter what name it was, wanted to imitate the western learning system. According to the concept of "university (university)" in modern times, the first university in modern China should be the Beiyang University, which was founded by the Qing Dynasty in 1895, but the important significance of the Beijing Shi University School held in 1898 in the origin of modern university can not be ignored. As for the Dengzhou Cultural Guild, which originated in 1882, it cannot be regarded as the origin of modern Chinese universities because of the issue of educational sovereignty.
