[Abstract]:Why does China lag behind the West in science? Or some argue that why China's science has lagged behind the West for "nearly hundreds of years" has been a controversial issue for a long time. In addition to the Chinese people say so, European and American people also comment this way. For example, in a 1883 speech called (A Plea for Pure Science) for Pure Science, Henry Roland (Henry A.Rowland) criticized China: "for generations they have not made any progress because they are only satisfied with the application of science, but they have never asked about the principles of what they do."
